Missing the Target collabo

Sunnies: Gucci | Necklace: Express (option) | Chambray: JCrew Factory (over 55% off!) | Bracelet: Stella & Dot | Skirt: Phillip Lim for Target (option) | Boots: Coach (option)

If you're looking for reviews on the new Peter Pilotto Target collabo, you've come to the wrong place. To be honest, nothing really excited me about this collection at all, and this is the first of the last 4 collaborations that I'm passing on. I figured since I am not partaking in this collection, I may as well re-wear something from the latest one - you can see my original outfit here. Man, I was much tanner back then…

I have been wanting to style this again, but couldn't make up my mind on what to do. Since I went with the more daring pairings of stripes and peep toe booties the first time, I decided to make it a little more rodeo feeling with the chambray and boots. Ok, so that wasn't my actual intention, but I'll admit, I did feel a bit rodeo once I was dressed. Perhaps it's the Texan deep down inside me missing the rodeo festivities currently happening at home!

So tell me, have you shopped the Peter Pilotto collection yet? Love it or hate it?

Icy Cool

Sunnies: Tom Ford (73% off!) | Blazer: Express (option) | Top: Frenchi (option) | Necklace: Express (option) | Skinnies: American Eagle (option, option) | Bracelet: Forever 21 (option) | Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (option, option) | Heels: Christian Louboutin

This outfit came up in one of my StyleUp emails last week, and I felt Pinspired to re-create it. What an awesome combination - ivory, beige, and mint. It's so icy cool, I can't hardly stand it!

Talk about shopping my closet! This outfit feels 100% brand new to me, yet everything I'm wearing was pre-existing. I mentioned on Monday that I'd been feeling pretty uninspired this week in terms of my outfit planning, but this is the one exception. You can probably expect to see this one come back to life as a blog favorite. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

The scarf tying video

Sunnies: Tom Ford (73% off!) | Scarf: Kate Spade (40% off) | Top: Express (option) | Jeans: Express (similar) | Boots: Vince Camuto (option, option)

OK, so first of all, I didn't realize until now that I've been wearing Vince Camuto boots all week. Totally not intentional, and frankly not surprising because I know Vince Camuto is pretty prominent in my collection. Second, and more importantly, I've been meaning to put together a scarf tying video. My scarf tying obsession all started with this H&M scarf which is an amazing dupe of the infamous Zara scarf:

With my sister! H&M scarf here

Once I learned how easy it was to look like this, I began tying all my scarves this way. I did my original post about this here, but there have been several people that haven't seemed to master it and I'm hoping my video will help. I really don't want anyone to give up on this H&M scarf, or any other scarf for that matter, because it's really not as complicated as it seems! So, here you go!

I love this technique and it makes me see all my scarves in a different light!  Short and sweet, but I hope it's helpful.

So, before I go - I just wanted to give a shout out to Skye over at Shopaholic SAHM! She truly is the sweetest blogger - she has a fun style and great personality. She is such a big supporter of our Manic Monday linkup, and just of our blogs in general, and said some things in her Monday post that made Gina and I, well, feel great! As our little gift to her, we made her a button! She's so quick to post everyone else's button on her blog, and she doesn't have one of her own yet! So here you go, Skye - hope you like it!

Sport Utility

Sunnies: Tom Ford (73% off!) | Necklaces: Banana Republic, Express (option) | Top: Amazon (last seen here) (option) | Vest: JCrew Factory | Jeans: 7 for all Mankind (option, budget option)  | Bag: Kate Spade (option) | Booties: Vince Camuto (option, option) | Polish:  Chanel "Rose Exuberant" (gifted), Pure Ice "Private Show" (gifted)

Sport utility. You get it? Baseball tee plus utility vest? Bet you thought I'd be blogging about SUVs today. I mean, I do need to start thinking about new cars. Eventually. But back to my outfit… gosh I'm so clever with my titles.

I totally meant to do a partial tuck of this skirt and add my skinny leopard belt, but I completely forgot until I was looking at the photos. Oh well - just imagine it's there. All of our snow is melted, and we actually hit 65 degrees over the weekend - it was magical. However, it's not gone for good - it's back into the 30s and is supposed to dip into single digits again by the end of the week. So I guess you can still consider this outfit part of the winter white category even though to me, this is really the stepping stone into more of a spring outfit. I'm actually quite excited to style this utility vest again and again! How, you ask?

See pin here

I know what you're thinking, and yes, you do. You do need one. It's kind of just like a scarf in the summer - it doesn't really serve much functional purpose, but it adds interest and breaks up the monotony of an otherwise basic outfit. Plus, I'm always a fan of adding dressy touches to a casual piece, which is why I like the idea of statement necklaces and frilly skirts with this. What do you think? How would you style it?

Manic Monday: The bag

Manic Monday, indeed! Hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine was fairly productive, but once it came down to trying to select outfits for the week, my eyes just glazed over and I was feeling extremely uninspired! But alas, this bag gave me something chew on!

I blog because I shop and I shop because I blog. Weird how that works! Well, last week Elif over at The Box Queen, posted this photo of herself carrying this bag (well, a super similar version) in her post she linked up with. I couldn't even focus on her outfit, I just saw rainbows and unicorns dancing around this bag. Last weekend I had posted about craving the perfect wine colored bag, so naturally, my shopaholic heart gravitated to this one! It arrived late last week and it was everything I had been looking for - slouchy, buttery soft, stayed put on my shoulder. Did I mention buttery soft? The only thing that had me a bit skeptical was the color - it has more pink in it than burgundy, so I worried that I would be satisfied in the short term, but not in the long term. But the more I see it and touch it and feel it, the more I am happy with my decision to keep it! So yay for other bloggers enabling me to shop! Ha!

What has blogging made you buy lately?

Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy.

Blazer: NY&Co (option) | Top: Express | Necklace: Express (option) | Scuba front leggings: Express (option, option) | Bag: Kate Spade (option, option) | Pumps: Manolo Blahnik (budget options here and here, even cheaper option here)

I could not help but quote Legally Blonde as I was thinking of content for this post. I work in a predominantly male industry, and this is just the kind of outfit I would avoid if I were trying to look authoritative. I avoid pink, I avoid girly prints like floral and dots. I even avoid certain types of heels. But alas it's Friday, I have no important meetings today, so yes, I'm wearing this merely because I can.

Speaking of pink. I just wanted to give you guys an update on the fundraising efforts I've been a part of for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. If you missed my friend's story - please catch yourself up here. In the first month, we've raised 66% of our goal, and that doesn't count a handful of checks that still need to be credited to our account. We are overwhelmed by everyone's generosity - and you know who you are as you read this! So, thank you. And if you haven't shopped our fundraising sale yet, please do so here!

And speaking of feeling overwhelmed (in a good way), I received the sweetest note from Rhea saying that she was inspired to start a weekly feature of her favorite bloggers and that she has picked yours truly for her first week! So please be sure to check out More Pieces of Me today over at Rhea EtCetera and show her some love!

Genes and jeans

Top: Tinley Road (last seen here) (option, other mint top options here and here) | Necklaces: Gifted, Francesca's (option) | Belt: Nordstrom (option) | Bag: Prada (gifted) | Jeans: Express | Shoes: Kate Spade (similar)

I don't ever get too terribly personal on the blog, but decided to do so today. Basically - my sister is pregnant! She's older than me and this will be the first grandchild in our family. Needless to say, my parents are ridiculously excited - the whole family is, and I just about cry every time I think about it! So, to celebrate my family today, I decided to wear this bag that my sister got me a couple of birthdays ago. I love it because, well, it's a Prada, so duh, but also because of the color and I have nothing else like it! Equally as unique is my gold necklace that my mom gave me for my birthday last year. It paired perfectly with the other gold and yellow accents in my outfit, and felt only appropriate to wear since I knew I'd be making this a "family" related post anyway!

What's funny is I felt EXTREMELY matchy matchy today. I thought maybe I had gone too far, but when I walked out of my closet room, the husband says, "Awwww, I like that!" He said I never get matchy like this, so the change was nice. And that was validation enough to not make a wardrobe change.

Left and middle: Original post here | Right: Original post here
I'm 5'-2" wearing the short inseam.

On the Daily Express: Original post here
Gina is 5'-4" wearing the regular inseam.

Before I go - can we talk about these Stella destroyed jean leggings for a second? I've been obsessed with distressed jeans lately, but of the three pairs I own, these are my favorite. I can't take credit for these because Gina over at On the Daily Express convinced me that I needed them. The second I received them, I was sure to text her a pic of me trying them on - she ended up incorporating that picture in her post on Express favorites here. They really do feel like butter - soft and worn in, but still substantial enough to smooth out all your problem areas. I always size up in any of the Stella jean leggings for the best, most comfortable fit. I also love that they come in short length - since my barely 5'-2" self hates getting things hemmed! It's awesome seeing them on us next to each other because we have different body types, but they're equally flattering regardless! Right now they are buy 1 get 1 for $29.50. Or you can use promo code 1108 for $30 off your $75 purchase (or $60 off your $150 purchase, or $15 off your $30 purchase.) If you get them, please come back and share your own reviews! Definitely a holy grail item in my closet room!
