Manic Monday: San Antonio weekend recap

Sunnies: Tom Ford | Earrings: Express (option) | Necklaces: Gifted, ℅ My Name Necklace | Bag: Kate Spade (option, option)  | Romper: Topshop | Wedges: Steven by Steve Madden (option)

Happy Monday! Is everyone as excited as I am for this Monday since it's a short week? Everything seems easy breezy as a result of the holiday week. Almost as easy breezy as this romper! I told you Friday that I was in San Antonio for the weekend for my Goddaughter's 1st birthday party. I figured, if you can't wear a romper to a 1-year old party, then really, no occasion is appropriate, amiright?! It was luau themed, so when I came across this floral number, I thought it would be perfect.

I wasn't sure how I wanted to style this thing. I originally thought about grabbing some nude shoes - like my Rockstuds, but well, that's a bit much for a 1-year old party. I thought my chunky grey espadrilles would be better suited for the occasion. For jewelry, call me crazy, but since I was headed home, I felt like going a bit more sentimental and reached for some personalized necklaces instead. I love the look of delicately layered necklaces like in the right Pinspiration above.

It's always great to go home and visit family and friends. As much as I love St. Louis (and my Redbirds), San Antonio will always be home for me. Here's a quick photo recap of our long weekend!

Remixing the jumper

Sunnies: Gucci | Earrings: Stella and DotScarf: J Crew Factory | Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (in other colors on sale here!) | Jumpsuit: Express (option, option)  | Sandals: Sam Edelman

As you guys read this, I will be in San Antonio!! I wish I was there longer than one weekend, but it will be good to be home regardless. It's my goddaughter's 1st birthday - I missed her baby dedication a few months ago because I was home with strep and had to cancel at the last minute. Her birthday made for the perfect excuse to reschedule my trip!

You know what I realized is the perfect travel outfit? This jumpsuit. This is the same one I dressed up for a date night with the husband a few weeks ago here. All I needed was a scarf to double as a wrap in case I get cold, and otherwise, I was good to go. And if you think about it - I never ever use the restroom on the plane, so the inconvenience factor of getting dressed in and out of a jumpsuit is suddenly a non-issue. Genius, I tell ya.

Because you all seem to like the behind the scenes stuff - I also tried tying the scarf the way I did it in my infamous scarf tying video here. It made me feel like a bank robber though with this outfit, so I switched it to the more traditional way. Out of curiosity - which do you prefer? Funny how much shorter the scarf looks the more traditional tying method.

Prairie girl

Sunnies: Marc by Marc Jacobs | Necklace: Express | Bag: Kate Spade (optioncheaper option) | Dress: Forever 21 (option, option)  | Vest: Two by Vince Camuto (option, option)  | Bangles: Random handful | Wedges: Ivanka Trump (option, option

The last time I wore this dress was almost one year ago here! I'm glad I decided to read it again before writing this post, because I was about to talk about the same things I did then - that I've had it forever, that I love it, that it's awesome quality for being Forever 21.

Today's styling is obviously not a huge change from what you saw before, but this time, I did decide to wear a denim vest over it. Inevitably the denim plus floral combo makes me feel like I should be running through a prairie with wild flowers all around me, but sometimes you just have to go with it! It's one of my favorite maxis and I don't see myself letting go of it any time soon!

Black lace

Sunnies: Gucci | Earrings: Express | Necklace: Premier (option) | Bag: Gucci | Dress: J Crew Factory | Bracelets: Express | Sandals: JCrew (option, option)

I love an easy dress in the summer. This one is perfect - so low maintenance, an easy shape, and the lace makes it special. I always have to toughen up lace, so I added the stud sandals.

Speaking of these stud sandals - the first time Rachelle over at Pink Sole won my heart over was because of these sandals. She does awesome Designer Dupe posts, and she had posted these sandals as a dupe of some Isabel Marant sandals - see her original post here. These sandals were originally $298, but I was able to snag them taxed and shipped for $126. And I never would have even known they existed had they not been for Rachelle. Reason #723876236 why I love blogging! <3

Floral shorts

Sunnies: Vince Camuto | Necklace: Stella and Dot (option) | Bag: Kate Spade (option, option, option)  | Top: Express (my color is not available, but neon berry is similar) | Shorts: The Limited (option, option)  | Shoes: SJP

When I was putting this on, I kept thinking about how April showers bring May flowers, and then I realized it's about to be JULY. How the heck has this happened? At any rate, this outfit makes me happy - the saturated jewel tones probably say spring more than they say summer, but regardless this was a fun outfit for me.

I wore this for a late Father's Day dinner with the in laws. We ate at a yummy Italian restaurant and I filled up on olive oil dipped bread, salad, and pasta. Whoops! I hate it when that happens.

Finally, apparently this top is hella versatile because this is my fifth time wearing it on the blog. That's gotta be some kind of record! My exact color is no longer available anymore, but the neon berry is a great option!

Manic Monday: Brunch inspired outfit

Sunnies: Vince Camuto | Earrings: Stella and DotNecklace: NY&Co (option) | Bag: Michael Kors (option, optionbudget option) | Jacket: Express ($59.99 + 40% off!) | Dress (last seen here): BCBG (option, option, budget option)  | Shoes (also seen here): Steve Madden (budget option

A couple of weekends ago when I was brunching with the husband, I saw this girl walk into the restaurant with the cutest, most effortless brunch outfit - a cotton pullover dress with a lightweight anorak jacket over, sleeves pushed up, and printed, slip-on sneakers. Don't you wish you could pin people in real life? I definitely took a mental picture of her and knew I wanted to recreate this look at a later date. I was secretly kicking myself for never buying the anorak jacket from Express that Gina has featured a few times.

Fast forward to a few days later, and I swear it's like she reads my mind. Gina put together a post of her features and clearance favorites here. I scrolled through her post feeling "safe" since I, for once, didn't *need* anything that she was featuring. Then BAM. She ends with the anorak jacket. Ok, ok, I get the hint, Shopping Gods. So, I ordered it, and I'm so glad I did!

I'm wearing the XS, and it's more flattering that I imagined it would be. It always throws me off when things don't look flattering on the models - because if they don't look perfect in it with the advantage of getting touched up in photos, then how am I supposed to look good in it?! I was pleasantly surprised though - I love that it has the hidden drawstring on the inside of the jacket to cinch the waist. And it's the perfect weight for cool summer mornings or evenings - even lighter than a denim jacket. Snag it now here while it's still around for over 60% off! You'll thank Gina and me in the fall for this, I promise.

Now, if you're thinking I'm crazy for even wearing a jacket in the summertime - you could easily switch the jacket for my favorite vest, and switch the sneakers for some barely there sandals!

What have you seen someone wearing in real life lately that left you inspired?
