Random roundup

Man, it's been a long short week, huh! I say it's been long, but really I haven't felt like I have had enough time for life! Here I was last weekend feeling tired of having so much free time, and then the work week comes and I need about 8 more hours in the day to comfortably get through everything! But, you will be happy to know that I folded 3 loads of laundry tonight, worked out for a half hour, tidied the house, and am now finishing this post. All in the last 3 hours.

But anyhoo, onto the fun stuff! Here are more outfits from the last couple of weeks or so!

Necklaces: CS Gems (c/o) | Top: BP | Belt: Express | Bottoms: Express | Shoes: Vince Camuto (similar)

You need white pumps. I promise you do. I love how they finish off any look perfectly! I mean, if they can make cargo pants look chic, you can't go wrong!

Top: Express | Bag: Kate Spade (option) | Bottoms: Express | Shoes: Vince Camuto (option)

You need these peep toe booties also. They're second-skin soft. I may have to wear them again tomorrow! I wore this to an eye appointment that didn't exist. I showed up a week early. Don't you hate it when that happens?

Top: Express | Necklace: Kate Spade | Bottoms: ExpressShoes: Louise et Cie

And another favorite pair of shoes of mine. Can you tell that I've been dressing around my shoes lately? I've been loving it! My heels are getting so much use this spring, which makes me just want to buy more! Eeeeeshk.

Top: Frenchi | Bottoms: Express (option) | Sandals: American Eagle

This outfit is pretty minimal because I wore it to the styling event with TCL Boutique. They suggested we bring our own jeans, just in case, so I packed a few basics and threw this outfit on not really knowing what to expect!

Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Top: ExpressNecklace: CS Gems (c/o) | Bottoms: American EagleShoes: Sam Edelman

And last but not least is this fun outfit I wore to a friend's house warming party. These heels are always a foolproof way to sass up any outfit. I decided to go all out with my leopard portofino, but mainly because I realized after seeing Erin's outfit here that I hadn't worn it in quite some time! It's an oldie but a goodie!

That's all for this week! Have a great weekend!

Styling neon

Clockwise from top left: Ellen of That Chic Mom | Carylee of More Pieces of Me | Julie of Mom Fabulous | Andrea of Momma in Flip Flops | Jo-Lynne at Jo-Lynne Shane | Kristin at BonBonRoseGirls | Audrey at MomGenerations | Ashley at Messy Beautiful Life | Carly of Thirty Something Fashion

Last Thursday, a group of us collaborated to bring you ideas on how to style your white bottoms for the summer. This week, we're back to showcase different ways to style neon. Admittedly, I don't have a ton of neon in my closet, but with pumps like these, do you really even need more?

I can't take credit for this outfit. I've been wanting to wear this combination with my highlighter yellow heels and highlighter pink bag ever since I saw Bethany do it here. I'm not sure why I've never thought to pair them together before, but it works! Every time I wear these heels or carry this bag, I'm bound to get comments since they're both head turners. Yet, I'm not too shy to pair them together! They complement each other without being matchy matchy, so that's a big win for me.

Another thing I've been wanting is this metal bib necklace. I first started lusting after it on Jenna. Here's a recent outfit of her wearing it, though she's had it for quite some time. Since I noticed it on her, I've been seeing it all over my Instagram feed, coincidentally, also on Bethany. After about 6 months, I figured I should just stop lusting and just buy it already! Haha

Sunnies: Vince Camuto | Necklace: Purple Periodot | Bag: Kate Spade (option) | Top: LOFT | Bracelet: JCrew FactoryBottoms: Express | Heels: Kate Spade (other colors here, budget option, swoon version)

Neon can get super 80s to me very quickly, so I personally prefer to keep it in small doses. That's easy to do with these pumps since they're such a statement on their own. It's so fun to spice up an otherwise neutral outfit with some bright colors.

These past outfits above prove that I like to let these shoes speak for themselves - I kind of forgot that I've already done denim on denim with them! I'm glad I decided to change it up with the pink bag this time! I did wear them with my neon sweatshirt that I love so much, but overall, I still think the neon in that outfit is not over-powering. I want to combine the collaboration ideas from this week and last and wear my neon heels with an all white outfit next! Neon is definitely not for the timid, but it's certainly more versatile than you would think!

The turquoise ring

I am back and slowly but surely trying to slip back into real life! I know it was only a three day weekend, but it was great. At one point, I actually caught myself thinking, "wow, I'm kind of tired of laying around doing nothing!" I can't remember the last time I felt like I had too *much* time on my hands. I'm always racing against the clock to get stuff done, whether it's at work or at home.

I definitely got some shopping in this weekend! Kind of scary as things start to arrive (and I remember that I actually bought them….) This plaid top was one of my Memorial Day purchases. If it looks familiar, it's because I have it in 4 other colors - red, white, blue, pink. Andddd, I also just bought it in a white and pink. Yes, I'm crazy, but when something is as soft and perfect as this top, I need ALL THE COLORS.

I've been wanting a turquoise ring for quite some time now, but I could never find the perfect one. I wanted something that had a vintage vibe, but wasn't overly formal. You know I love things a lot more when I can dress them up or down depending on my mood. This ring was the perfect mix of everything I was looking for, and the bonus is that it has an adjustable band. And not the adjustable ones that are visible with your palms facing up - you know, the kind that always pinches your skin? The adjustable portion of the band is hidden under the stone, which works perfect for both aesthetics and comfort.

CS Gems was able to find two of these same rings, so the great thing is that you can own this very one also. It's hard to beat for only $15. All of their rings are priced from $12-$15 so if this one isn't your thing, you can check out their other styles here. I think I may need this darling round one next… And don't forget, you can always use code CARYLEE15 for 15% off!

Sunnies: Ray Ban | Necklace: Target (option) | Bag: Chanel | Top: Express | Tee: Express | Bracelet: Express (option) | Ring: CS Gems (c/o) Exact one here (use code CARYLEE15 for 15%) Bottoms: Express (option) | Shoes: Vince Camuto (similar)

This outfit is totally relaxed and everything I needed to help me get through this short week. The layered tops are easy, but the shoes and accessories keep it from feeling a bit too 90's grunge for me. And yes, I realize this is basically the same outfit as the one I copied from Rachelle here, but when a formula works, why re-create it?

Note: This post was sponsored in part by CS Gems, but all opinions expressed are my own.

Camouflaged

Hope everyone had a great, long weekend! Mine was extremely relaxing, which is exactly what I needed. I wasn't feeling the best towards the latter half of last week, and rest was definitely in order. So, there was lots of napping, a couple of movies, a little bit of shopping, lots of eating, and it all ended with a sweet Cardinals victory.

I made an executive decision not to stress out about my posts this week and having to take outfit photos. I'm sure you can appreciate that. At the same time, I still very much love blogging and I miss it when I don't post. Yesterday, I was patriotic by recapping all of my red, white, and blue outfits. I thought I would continue on with a Memorial Day (week) theme by recapping all of my camo outfits! This was actually pretty fun for me because a) I had no idea I owned so much camo and b) I always love seeing how I style the same pieces different ways.

That being said, I hope you can pardon my mini break and still find some outfit inspiration to get you through this week! (I know you've just been sitting at the edge of your seat waiting to see what I'm wearing, huh! haha) I will be back with new content and fun collaborations tomorrow and Thursday, and end the week with my typical random roundup, so stay tuned!

Patriotic

Happy Memorial Day! I hope you have lots of fun things planned to kick off the summer, and of course, take some time to remember and appreciate what this day is all about!

In order to fully maximize my long weekend, I thought today would be a good opportunity to pull together all of my "patriotic" looks on the blog to date. What a better way to pay tribute to the holiday than by highlighting the colors of the American flag and everything our flag symbolizes! Perhaps a bit cheesy, but I was going for an easy theme, ok? Plus, I haven't done one of these recap posts in quite some time!

Enjoy, and don't forget to link up while you're here!

Random roundup

If you're as lucky as the husband, you're already enjoying your long weekend! I do still have to work today, but I'm definitely enjoying having Monday off. It feels like I was just writing last year's Memorial Day post! Crazy! But, as always, I've got some randoms to share with you. Have a great holiday!

Jacket: Express (similar) | Necklace: CS Gems | Dress: Express (option) | Heels: BCBG (option)

This jacket seriously goes with everything, and this day, I needed an easy dress to throw on. I love that lace doesn't *look* easy though! And can we talk about second day hair for a second? I don't know how I've gone my whole life up until now washing my hair almost every day. Curling my second day hair is my most favorite thing to do now - it just looks so full and pretty! Not Your Mother's dry shampoo and hairspray are my favorites!

Scarf: Kate Spade | Chambray: LOFTBottoms: American EagleSandals: Jeffrey Campbell

This outfit is a variation of the outfit I wore on the blog here. The outfit base is the same, but it was a bit chilly this day, so the scarf felt more appropriate than a necklace. And these sandals had just arrived the night before and I couldn't wait to wear them! It happens!

Top: Bobeau | Necklace: Kate Spade | Skirt: ExpressHeels: Valentino

So, I've decided that I will buy every single knit midi skirt that Express comes out with. I already have it in the black and white stripe as well as the grey and black stripe. This solid black one is the softest of them all! I realized that a peplum would look really cute with this skirt, so I channeled my inner Peg Bundy (who was in Pitch Perfect 2, btw…) and rocked the combo to work.

Necklace: CS Gems (c/o) | Top: ExpressBag: Tory Burch | Bottoms: ExpressSandals: Sam Edelman

This is the same portofino I'm wearing in yesterday's post here. I love it. It's one of my most favorites for spring and summer. I was pushing the limits on my sandals here. I swear spring is here, but it's not. Just when I think we are clear of the cold, it drops 30 degrees the following day. I still very much love these Gigi sandals - I am craving a third color but can't decide!!

Scarf: Kate Spade | Top: LOFT (option) | Bottoms: Express (option) | Booties: Hinge

And speaking of the schizophrenic weather, this is clearly another one of those outfits. It pained me to whip out my booties for the occasion, but it was cold and rainy, and it just felt like the right thing to do. When all else fails - go for stripes and a color pop. It's an instant outfit favorite, I promise!

White pants remix

Kristin at BonBonRoseGirls | Andrea of Momma in Flip Flops | Ellen of That Chic Mom  | Ashley at Messy Beautiful Life | Carly of Thirty Something Fashion | Julie of Mom Fabulous | Audrey at MomGenerations | Jo-Lynne at Jo-Lynne Shane | Felicia of Go Grow Go | Carylee of More Pieces of Me | Gladys of The Mother Overload

Today I'm collaborating with the nicest group of bloggers to bring you some white pant inspiration. I think you're technically "allowed" to wear white bottoms and white shoes from Memorial Day to Labor Day, which I personally think is crap! I could not live without a pair of white skinnies year round! If you look through my RemixFix2015 recap, you'll find several ways I styled them in the winter. I've already worn them a few times for the warmer months, but wanted to bring you something new! And nothing says 'spring' better than mint and coral.

Sunnies: Vince Camuto | Earrings: Francesca's (option) | Necklace: MOD (local boutique) (option) | Bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim | Top: Express (similar in Bahama Coral and Peach Desert) | Bracelets: JCrew, Stella and DotJeans: American Eagle (option) | Sandals: Report Signature (budget option)

Honestly, it's hard to come up with anything that couldn't possibly pair well with white bottoms. I know the challenge can be finding a pair that isn't see through. My go to pairs are from Express and American Eagle. And yes, that is "pairs" (multiple) since one pair just isn't enough! They get a ton of wear.

1 | 2 | 3

Shoes can also trip you up a little bit because everything can seem like they would be too harsh right next to the large field of white. But as long as you can balance out the color with whatever you are wearing on top, you should be fine. I say that though, but I also love pairing a contrasting color of shoes with my white bottoms to make more of a statement. The possibilities are endless, I tell ya!
