Jewel tones

Earrings: Express (option) | Necklace: Kate Spade (budget option, splurge option) | Top: J Crew Factory (option) | Skirt: Banana Republic | Bracelet: Express | Ring: Kate Spade Saturday | Bag: Kate Spade (option) | Shoes: Joan and David (option)

So, I know this is entitled "Jewel Tones" but I keep thinking of Jewel "TUNES" and I've been singing, "My hands are small I know but they're not yours they are my own…." You're welcome for getting that stuck in your head. But now onto this outfit!

It's not a secret that I participate in a handful of linkups every week. Usually on Sunday night, I take a look at my Tuesday and Thursday linkups to see what the themes are so I can start planning what I'm going wear. This week's theme for the Trend Spin Link Up hosted by Erin and Laura is jewel tones. My mind immediately thought "emerald" so I started dressing around this skirt. I bought this top a few weeks ago, but hadn't worn it yet. It's super lightweight, which was actually quite perfect today as the temps crawled back up into the 60s. I wasn't sure how this would end up looking in real life - normally outfits look a lot better in my head than they do when I physically try them on. To my surprise this morning though, it looked way better than I was picturing. In fact, it was looking not so good in my head that I almost didn't bother trying it on altogether. I'm very glad I did though - purples, pinks, greens, golds - it all meshed together wonderfully. "….in the end….only kindness matters…." Can't. Stop. Singing it!!!

  2. It's funny, there are a number of colors in your outfit but it doesn't even strike me as "colorful" or "too much." They all blend beautifully and just look like they belong perfectly together. Like they would be singing to each other, "you were meant for me, and IIIIIIIIII was meant for youuuuuuu....." (That's a Jewel song, just in case people don't know.....)
