Brunch at The Rustic

Hope everyone enjoyed the extra long weekend! Did you survive Black Friday? If you want to see everything I bought last week (just in time for Cyber Monday) you can check out my late night post here. Otherwise, it's a new week, so I'm trying to get back into the swing of things - as much as you can during the holidays anyway!

The Rustic, San Antonio, The Rim

We spent our Thanksgiving visiting my immediately family in San Antonio. We rarely do holidays in San Antonio, so it was a nice change! Especially since that gave me a chance to visit with some of my favorite people like these girls! You may recognize some of these faces from my brother's wedding post here and my Goddaughter's 1st birthday post here. Our families have been close since I was in 6th grade, so we all grew up together, and I miss not being able to spend time with them regularly. No matter how much times passes though, we can still pick up where we last left off, even though I'm the only one who has moved away. It's nice to always feel included. Social media definitely helps bridge gaps, too. Thankful for that!

Outfit details--- Sunnies: Ray Ban | Earrings: Nickel and Suede Rose Gold in large (c/o) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (option here, exact but in other colors here and here) | Top: Free People "Dream Team" (other colors here) | Ring: Kendra Scott "Naomi"Bottoms: American Eagle (similar) | Shoes: Sole Society "Katarina" (other colors here---

First, what I wore. I really had no idea what I wanted to wear for Thanksgiving. But, as I was packing for the trip, this top showed up so I threw it in my suitcase. I intended to wear it on Thanksgiving, but last second chose a sequin tank, jeans, and my black moto shacket. Since I didn't wear it on Thanksgiving, I thought it was a good option to wear for Saturday brunch. Plus, it pairs perfectly with my new leopard shoes!

The top is extra voluminous making it perfect for a food-coma, but I'm glad I didn't size down because I think it would have felt too constraining in the mock neck (the neck buttons up in the back.) The color is gorgeous and the lace sleeves made it comfortable to wear in the not-so-fall San Antonio temps.

My friend recommended brunch at this restaurant at The RIM called "The Rustic." It was crazy good, and the indoor/outdoor environment was amazing! I'm not sure how comfortable it feels in the dead of humid-summer, but my friends were saying it does get pretty packed regardless. There is a stage for live bands to play, and with so many seats and yummy drinks, I could see how it would be a popular place to get together.

The Rustic Family Style brunch

We decided to try the family style brunch. It was a set price per person, and each dish comes out family style. It's proportioned exactly for each person, and at first we didn't think it was going to be enough food, but it turned out to be plenty. I also had a grapefruit mimosa and French press coffee, both of which were delicious!

Here is our group, spouses included. We were actually sitting at a table across from this booth, but the booth made for a better group shot. I am glad that it wasn't too terribly busy while we were there so we could hear each other talk and enjoy the food without a wait.... and be able to take photos like this on the premises.

The patio had tons of tables, chairs, benches, along with unique sitting areas like this. There was a good sized bar inside (that you can see behind us in the booth group shot) and a second bar outside as well.

These chairs lined the fence on the side of the patio where kids can hang out or you could play some cornhole. The exterior space definitely lived up to the "backyard" label.

And here's one more picture of the 4 of us! Our husbands are very patient and are good sports because they know we will take pics like this when we are all together. And this place is so Instagram friendly, it's the perfect backdrop. Oh, that reminds me! It had the most epic selfie mirror headed into the bathroom!

Fun stuff! And freaking delish, too! I would definitely go back there again. If you're in San Antonio or Dallas, I highly recommend! Man, I'm kind of sad that the restaurant scene blew up in San Antonio AFTER I moved away. It's turned into such a foodie city, I'm a bit jealous!
