Peep toe booties

Scarf: 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target | Sweatshirt: Express | Bracelet: Tasha | Jeans: Delia's | Booties: Via Spiga (option)

I remember a time when I had zero desire to wear or own peep toe booties. The concept just made no sense to me. Why on earth would you need a bootie to be peep toe? These booties were a game changer for me though. I decided I'd make them work. They were sexy. And I guess that's one thing I always had trouble finding in a peep toe bootie - a pair that looked feminine and fun and flirty. These are so unique and beautiful - I've had them for a little over two years now, and I don't see them leaving my collection anytime soon!

So, let me go back to my original question - why on earth would you need a peep toe bootie? The simple answer is - well, you don't NEED them, that's silly. Maybe the better question is - when would I reach for these vs. a regular peep toe pump or a closed toe bootie? Well, for today's outfit, I think regular peep toe pumps would have been too bare of a pairing with a sweatshirt and jeans. I like that the top of my foot is hidden by the higher vamp. I really could have done a regular closed toe bootie instead, but it was "warm" enough to get away without socks or tights, which means going bare footed isn't off the table for me. It was cool enough for a sweater, but not quite cool enough for a jacket, too; which to me means, the perfect opportunity to whip out the peep toe booties. Although I've done PTBs with tights before in the past, I prefer to wear this pair with bare toes. I'm pretty particular about what peep toe shoes I wear with tights. But that's a whole other different post...

  1. Thanks for always capturing the great details of your outfit in your photos! I haven't taken the open toe bootie plunge yet but those are so cute on you. I love red + grey. And bonus that the scarf doesn't hide the cool details of the back of your sweatshirt.
