Random roundup + What's Up Wednesday

It's the last Wednesday of the month which means it is time once again to link up with MelShay, and Sheaffer for What's up Wednesday! Much like January, I decided to mix my life randoms with my random outfit selfies I've accumulated lately - may as well contain all the randoms into one post, eh? You can always follow me on Snapchat (carylee07) if you want to stay up to date with me, including real time snaps of what I'm wearing every day for work! I love not having to stress about what I can or cannot post next on Snapchat because there's no "feed" I need to worry about keeping clean and organized! (That is honestly the main reason why I don't real-time post my everyday outfits on Instagram.) I swear Snapchat is just social media vomit, but in a good way. ha! But, back to today's post! I'm only picking a handful of the What's Up Wednesday questions to answer for the sake of time, but let's get started!

What are we eating this week:
Basically, we are going to starve!! Ok, we aren't but our meal delivery service is taking the week off because of the President's Day holiday this past Monday, so no deliveries for us! Waaaahhhh!! It's such convenience and her meals are always so delicious, that while I certainly understand taking time off, a part of me gets SOSAD because I love having the service. She's local and we leave a cooler on the doorstep every Tuesday and she delivers fully cooked meals (3 total enough for me and the husband) that we just need to heat up before eating. It's such a life saver especially with everything that I have going on right now.

What we have been up to:
Well.... the big climax of the month was the morning segment I got to do for Fox 2 news. You can read more about it in this post here. It was such a fun experience, I would totally do it again even though I was a nervous wreck ahead of time! When the email first came through to my blog email asking if I wanted to participate in this segment, I was really excited, you guys. REALLY excited. It was such a quick segment, just under 3 minutes, but I would have never had the opportunity to do that had it not been for this blog, and there's definitely a lot of gratification that comes with that. I received so many sweet messages and text messages after the show, and that made me feel good as well - that people support me and this crazy hobby and were equally as excited for me as I was to do it. So, yay!

What I'm working on:
Gosh, at the moment I feel like there is little I am NOT working on! You can read all about my Pilates certification progress in Monday's post here. Outside of that, work has been absolutely crazy and busy. We are two weeks away from our big convention that we've been preparing for, and there are so many little details that need to be wrapped up from now until then! For example, I was put in charge of hiring a photographer to take photos of two of our recent remodels. Our concept officer wants the photos for a presentation he is doing at our big convention. Having to book a photographer within a week's notice is hard enough, much less finding someone who can also turn the photos around within a couple of days, too! It's been fun to shop around for one, but yes, it's a lot of coordination on top of my already-full plate of responsibilities. I really can't complain though. I know it will be very good to have it all done and look back at how we managed to pull everything off! More to come on this, I'm sure!

What I'm excited about:
I have a couple of trips to look forward to this year. The first is our big work convention in Nashville in a couple of weeks that I was just talking about. Then, the end of April, I will be going to Dallas for the rewardStyle conference. The week of 4th of July, we'll be at a beach house in Orange County with the husband's family. And then somewhere in between, I will be in San Antonio when my nephew is born plus I need to make it out to Boulder one or two times! (Boulder is where The Pilates Center is. They host my certification program.) The year is quickly booking up!

What I'm watching/reading/listening to:
Oh my goodness, you guys. This Saturday, I watched the Lifetime movie about Britney's life called "Britney Ever After." It was typical for a Lifetime movie - cheesy writing and acting. It was actually quite awful, I'm pretty sure I had stank face the entire time I was watching it, but I couldn't stop! I had to watch it until the bitter end. The guy they had play Justin was HORRIFIC. They portrayed him like Seth Green's character in Can't Hardly Wait. Remember that? Anyhoo, all I can say after watching it is poor Britney. I need to do some fact checking, but yeah. She has issues. But I guess we all do! They just don't make movies about all of mine!

What I'm wearing:
I've been wearing a lot of neutrals lately and dusting off some old pieces I have in my closet. I'm not in full on spring mode, but I'm kind of over all my winter stuff. We didn't even have a bad winter by any means, but I just hate this back and forth stuff. It either needs to be cold or it needs to be warm, but swaying back and forth is really confusing and annoying! So, until Mother Nature makes up her mind, light layers and neutrals are my jam.

What else is new?
This weekend, we got a bunch of new stuff! All adult-fun stuff. Errm, not *that* kind of adult fun, I mean appliances. Our rental house needed some new appliances, so rather than spend money for the rental house, we're moving all our old appliances into the rental and placing the new appliances in our house instead. That involved a new fridge, oven, and microwave. I really didn't have any complaints about the oven or microwave, but our fridge was pretty dumb. It had the side by side fridge/freezer, but you really couldn't fit a pizza box in there unless you jammed it in diagonally. Pretty inefficient. Needless to say, I'm excited for a real fridge! We also got an adjustable bed which has been on my list FOREVER! We found out that our bed frame had broken in multiple places, so nothing was supporting the mattress but the box spring. We were sleeping in a valley, crammed into each other every night because of the slope to the center of the mattress. No bueno. An adjustable bed isn't cheap, but I basically told the husband that it was just a matter of time before we got one, so we could either get it now or wait another 10 years and have me miserable! He caved. :) So far, so good!!

And that's all I have for you today! Nothing super exciting, but it's still always nice to share non-outfit related stuff once in awhile!! Have a great Wednesday!

  4. I'm in the market for a new adjustable bed. Shay from Mix and Match Mama raves about her sleep number bed and our town is getting one of their stores in the next few months. I plan on hitting them up when they open. What brand did you get?

    1. Mine is a Broyhill! Admittedly, I didn't try a Sleep Number for comparison, but had researched pricing of all manufactures. The Broyhill ended up being on sale thanks to Presidents Day so we went that route! It's a King sized with two XL twin beds so the husband and I can adjust them independently.

  9. Oh wow you really do have a packed year! Packed with lots of fun things though :) Being on TV is awesome! :)

I smiled at your isntagram comment, as my feed is just my everyday outfits in the order I wear them. But my blog used to be like that too so maybe in a couple years I'll have one of those 'curated' feeds too. If instagram is still around, haha! I'll come to you for tips when I do! :)

Hope you are having a wonderful week :)
