Casual July 4th outfit

Hello and happy Monday! (Is there such a thing, really?) I would say today is a happy Monday because this time next week, I will be on vacation for a whole week in California! I've been going non stop for the last couple of weeks that I honestly haven't had time to even get excited for it! I'm just trying to get through one day at a time. But, it really is right around the corner so it's feeling a bit real, meaning, I need to get my crap together and figure out what I'm going to pack!! This weekend, the husband and I hit up the outlet mall, and when I saw this top, I thought it would be perfect for July 4th!

July 4th casual outfit
Outfit details--- Sunnies: Charming Charlie (c/o) | Earrings: Nickel and Suede Large Rose Gold (c/o) | Necklace: Kendra Scott "Kingston" | Top: American Eagle (50% off!) | Shorts: American Eagle (similar) | Sandals: Sanuk ---

It is super lightweight and runs true to size. The red and blue striping show subtle patriotism without being completely obnoxious! It also means that it's still very appropriate for any other day of the year (or my Cardinals baseball games!) Win and win! Plus, it was under $20, so you really cannot beat that price.

These sandals came home with me from Boulder. Stephanie was wearing a pair in grey and they looked so comfy! After dinner our last night there, we popped into a shop that happened to sell the brand, so I snagged this pair. Red because of the Cardinals, and because you know I can't resist a pop of color. I know they will be coming on vacation with me, and they will work great for July 4th. The soles are made out of recycled yoga mats, so if you imagine walking on pillows, that basically describes how these feel on your feet!

Easy, breezy casual outfit! I will admit that while I loved the idea of the tassels on the straps, they ended up being super annoying. I don't know if it was the ridiculously windy day or what, but they kept falling off my shoulders and I couldn't take it anymore. I decided to make a little modification to the shirt.

I think the tassels really do add something special to the top, so I didn't want to lose them completely. I cut them off the shoulders since the top stays up anyway without the straps. The straps served no purpose at all other than being a nuisance. I tied two of them into a knot and took a teeny safety pin to pin the straps to the top. I just threw the other tassel straps away since I didn't need two sets, though I did debate on keeping them just in case something happened to this pair. I love the top even more like this. And now it doesn't need a necklace either! Woo!

That's all I have for you today! Hope your week goes fast and is productive!!!

    1. Haha! It was surprisingly so perfect with zero humidity! It was crazy windy though. Which was great for the temp but horrible for photos.

And we are going to Orange County. The in-laws rented a beach house so we will be chilling with his family! Then the second weekend we are there, my sister and I are throwing a 70th birthday party for my dad. It will be a packed week!

  16. I've been wanting to order some Sanuks recently, since they would be perfect for long days on your feet when travelling in the summer. I'm just waiting for the black pair to go on sale! The red is a nice pop of color, though!
