Styling a varsity stripe top + voice update

I styled this top for CS Gems because they were having a lightening deal sale on it while I was gone last week in Mexico. Unfortunately, it's not on their site anymore, so I'm sorry you all are missing out on it! However, I wanted to share it anyway because I feel it styles very similarly to a varsity stripe top, and varsity stripes seem to be a trend that is coming back along with other 90s inspired styles. I also wanted to use this opportunity to give you an update on my voice/ laryngitis situation!

I posted this outfit on Instagram this weekend and mentioned that I wore it for brunch but then changed right before I walked out the door! Some days you just crave certain things, and while there is nothing wrong with this outfit at all, I wanted something off the shoulder instead!

Hey everyone! Happy Monday! Hope your weekends were productive and/or relaxing! Hopefully a mix of both! Since last weekend I spent so much time cleaning and purging the closet room, I definitely steered towards the "relaxing" side of the spectrum this weekend. Watched a couple of movies, had a long mani pedi, and brunched with the girls. It was nice! This week is going to be crazy busy with travel. I'm gone 3 days for work and then I leave next weekend for a long weekend for the nephew's first birthday party! But let's talk about this outfit first!

Brunch style

Happy Monday! May is about halfway over and it's already feeling like summer in these parts. I'm not sure if I'm quite happy about that or not! It's nice to feel some warmth on my skin, but it would have been nice to enjoy a bit of spring before we just jumped head first into summer!! Regardless, I found this dress a couple of weeks ago and I fell in love with it instantly. It made for the perfect brunch-style outfit, too, for Mother's Day yesterday!

Springy fiesta

I had no idea what to title this post. "How to wear pink pants?" "Another off the shoulder top?" "I bought these pants in a 4th color?" The earrings and the clutch and the embroidered sleeve felt very fiesta to me, so I just went with springy fiesta. Probably not good for my Search Engine Optimization, but whatever. Shopping soiree + brunch

We had the most wonderful weather on Sunday! It was perfect for this Women in Business Shopping Soiree that I attended with a couple of girlfriends! It was a tad cold in the shade and heavy breeze, but in the sun, it was magical. I decided to wear this wrap dress for the event, and I brought a denim jacket as an outer layer if I got too cold.

I honestly cannot remember the last time I owned a denim skirt. Ok, I take that back. The last denim skirt I remember wearing was in 2006. That's 12 years ago. I could have basically started 1st grade and graduated high school in that time period. That's a long time! So what made me crave one now? I have no heck idea.

The Olive Jumpsuit

I've owned a couple of jumpsuits over the last few years, which you can see in these older posts here and here. While I did love those two a lot, I always wished that I found one with a slightly cropped and tapered leg. This one kept appearing in my Facebook feed as an ad, and I finally decided to bite the bullet and buy it, and I'm glad I did! The fit was exactly what I was looking for! Now if I could only find this in a pair of simple black pants vs. a full on jumpsuit....

Floral ruffle cami dress

A couple of weeks ago, I had another Facebook live video with Carrie and Stacy from CS Gems, which was all about outfit ideas for a winery or other warm-weather outdoor events. I summarized my suggestions in this blog post here, and the first thing I raved about was this cami dress from Express. Naturally, I ended up buying another color for the season. I ended up with three last year, and I'm not even a little sorry about that. I just love the way they fit me, and since I don't have enough yellow in my closet, I opted for this beautiful floral print as my next acquisition. I'm guessing it's a popular item with them or they wouldn't have released it in a jillion other colors.

Welcome back to another week! Hope your weekends were relaxing and/or productive. Mine was a little bit of both. I spent Saturday running errands and working at the office for a few hours. Sunday was all about blogging, much like it usually is, though it didn't take me as long to finish like it normally does. Striped top + scallop shorts

Sharing another warm-weather look today. I realize some of you may be still freezing your booties off, and frankly, it hasn't been the warmest of weather in these parts either, but it's mid-April and I'm basically over all things winter. Last week's Sip and Style video I did with CS Gems made me even more excited for warm weather and I ended up ordering a lot of spring/summery things as a result! This top and these shorts being part of my new purchases! The crazy sales right now are not helping my cause either!

Bold on bold

I was going back and forth about what to wear for Easter. We were celebrating with the husband's family like usual, and they aren't super dressy, though I do like to add in my zest regardless! I caved and bought this top from the Gibson x Living in Yellow collection at Nordstrom. I got to meet Erin at the rewardStyle conference last year, so it's been so fun to follow along on this journey of hers. The collection is full of great basics - much of which I already had in my closet, BUT! When the second releases came out, I saw this top and, well. I can't have enough off the shoulder in my closet, so I decided to give it a go! When I was laying in bed Easter morning, I remembered this top just arrived this week and the bold color was just what I was in the mood for!

Five

Good morning and happy Monday! So sorry for the inadvertent radio silence last week. Last Saturday, I woke up with a cough and a sore throat and it really knocked me out! I was in bed for three days, missed work on Monday, and slowly started coming back to life the rest of the week just to be hit with an awful migraine on Friday, which put me in bed once again for a good 15 hours. Sometimes life just tells you to slow your roll regardless of what is on your calendar. I am feeling better, thankfully, but still trying to take it easy and not push myself. I haven't worked out in almost two weeks and that in and of itself gives me anxiety. Not because I feel like I'm gaining weight, but because working out is my stress reliever! Anyhoo, thanks to everyone who checked in on me to make sure I was still breathing!

The pearl embellishment trend

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Seriously trying to submerge myself into the Christmas spirit, and that means finding all the embellished sweaters to wear for holiday parties, or just because! As I was searching through Black Friday sales, I found this sweater and I wanted to try it! Pearl embellishments are having such a big moment right now from sneakers to bags to jackets. It was time I partake!
