Fall essentials: The statement pant

Disclosure: Banana Republic reached out to me to participate in their fall essentials campaign! Although they are sponsoring this post, all opinions expressed are my own.

Even though it was 90-degrees again this weekend, fall is definitely here. Or at least it is hard to deny that it's coming! Everyone is taking last minute summer trips and all the retailers have been pushing their fall stuff. Let's be real, retailers have been pushing their fall stuff since July!! But now that October is less than two weeks away, it's time to get super serious about fall and figuring out where those gaps are in your fall wardrobe.

Outfit details--- Sunnies: Vince Camuto | Necklace: Kendra Scott "Elisa" | Bag: Kate Spade (two-tone navy satchel option here, budget option here) | Top: Express | Bracelet: Kendra Scott "Candice"Bottoms: Banana Republic "Sloan-Fit Sailor Pant" (c/o) | Shoes: Louise et Cie (blush pump options here and here---

When I was sifting through my options at Banana Republic, these pants stopped me in my tracks! I had just been in a Banana and tried on a pair of Sloan-fit pants and I was immediately a fan. You all know that I can't quit my skinny jeans. I own way too much denim, so it was a nice change to mix it up with a pair of regular pants - a statement pant nonetheless! For reference, I am wearing a size 4 petite.

I picked these pants as a fall essential because they're basic, but with a twist. Clearly the buttons make them special. Normally, I don't like tucking in my shirts because the proportions don't look right on my high-waisted self. But the rise of this pair are perfect and I still felt the silhouette was flattering with my shirt tucked in. As I mentioned, it was warmer this weekend, but you could easily throw a cardigan or a blazer over this tank if you needed some warmth.

This top was the perfect partner to the pants. The blush is darling, and I loved bringing out the gold zipper in the top with the gold buttons in the pants. I definitely want to wear a striped top with the pants, too. I realize that takes it to a whole other nautical level, but there's something French-chic about wearing stripes with sailor pants that makes me happy.

If you get sick of the buttons, you can always just wear a longer top and hide them! The chambray material of the pants makes them as super universal as regular denim. I was also thinking my orange scalloped sweater from the Nordstrom anniversary sale would look amazing with these pants!

The dress code at my office is very liberal allowing me to basically wear whatever I want. That typically means I'm really casual most days, but putting this outfit on made me miss working in a more business casual setting. I say that, but these pants really don't need to be saved just for the office. They will come in handy for several occasions and I'm excited to style them again and again!
