Outlet mall shopping

Day 2 of our San Antonio trip, and we decided to trek the 42 minutes to the Premium Outlets in San Marcos. We don't have an outlet mall in the St. Louis area. Well, I should say, that we *finally* do, but they don't open until August 22nd. That being said, I always try to hit up a good outlet mall when I get the chance. I like the typical players like JCrew and Banana, but I get most excited about Kate Spade (duh), Saks Off Fifth, and Neiman Marcus Last Call. I was super excited to see Vince Camuto and DVF outlets in San Marcos - both new to me as far as outlets are concerned.

If you follow me on Instagram, you got to see the action as it was unfolding. I figured I'd recap it all for you here also so I can add commentary. My first priority was Kate Spade. I knew I'd find *something* there, and that would basically dictate my budget for the remaining stores.

My husband was talking to my brother as the women dispersed in the store. I could hear the anxiety in his tone as he said to him, "This is my worst nightmare." Yeah. This would be like me walking into a fancy car auction with him. I didn't buy out the whole store, even though I'm sure that's how he felt. Just bought a few pretties.

So, all the jewelry was 40% off, and the full price handbags were 50-60% off. I grabbed the bangles first. I have been needing some in the coral/orange family, and these dainty little things are adorable. Bows and dots? I die. The watch was something I have been debating on forever. I always see these come up on flash sales, but I was concerned how they would fit on my wrists. It fit fine though - better than the bangles normally fit me. This came in black and white also, but I thought the gold and white would be more versatile. Love how it looks even just next to these thin bangles.

Lately when I've been shopping for bags, it's either been for bigger bags to tote a bunch of stuff to and from the office, or they've been smaller cross body or clutch type bags. I was definitely on a highlighter orange kick on this trip, as you can see. It's the perfect sized clutch, but comes with an optional shoulder strap. The little turnlock closure gave me a happy.

My next stop was Vince Camuto, which was a bust. I was definitely super excited to walk into it, but nothing jumped out at me at all. Vince Camuto is one of my favorite department store shoe brands to wear next to Sam Edelman and Michael Kors. The styles typically have a little bit of edge to them, however, at the outlet, everything was just meh. That was actually ok with me because I had my eye on the DVF store.

First of all, how freaking cute is this dressing room? Just a simple room, with a bench seat, but typical of her fun prints in her clothing designs, the fabric on this bench follows suit. Add in some plush purple carpet, and I could sit in this little square room forever. I was tempted to pick up another wrap dress - I was a bit overwhelmed by the selection, but I decided to try more summery options - a wrap skirt, white lace shorts, and a flowy striped tank. The shorts were an awful fit. I sized up because a lot of her stuff runs small on me, and while it fit, if not a little too tight, in the waist, it was ginormous everywhere else. The skirt was great and fit true to size, and the top was amazing, but I did have to size down because it ran big.

I love pattern mixing, but no, I would not wear these two pieces together. I am wearing them together here merely so you can see how they look on. I tucked the top in so you could see the skirt better, although, the top is even more perfect left untucked and flowy.

Those were the only two things I got from DVF, but you want to hear something pretty amazing? If you are put on their mailing list, they send you a $50 gift card for your birthday. $50 bucks! At DVF! That's a great gift! Since I'm out of state, she said that I could find something I like in the store and call in my order and they'd credit the gift card over the phone. That's awesome. I will have to send a spy out there next month to see what I can use this towards!

The outlet mall is ridiculously big, and it was crazy hot, so I am amazed at how much ground we actually covered. We ended up splitting up from the rest of the family, but the husband and I managed to hit up Michael Kors, Oakley, JCrew, Under Armour, Puma, and Nike. I had done enough damage already, so I sat back a little and let the husband dictate where he wanted to go. I ended up not getting anything else, but if these were in my size, I would have totally gotten them.

I know. I'm pretty random sometimes. I had seen these in a magazine or catalog or something one time when I was flying, and I was drawn to them. When we were at the Nike Store, they had these on clearance, but only in a size 7. Alas, I'm a 6. I tried them on, and they were big, but now I'm kind of wondering if I should have just bought an insole and made them work. Oh well. I know they're totally out of my realm of shoes, but I could see these with skinny jeans and a graphic tee for running errands or even shorts and a tank for a travel outfit. Sigh. Nike, if you're reading this, I will gladly take these as a free gift. Heck, I'd even pay for them if you can make my size available!!

That's all I got for you today, folks. I'm on a plane as we speak headed to Chicago for my next stop on this little mini vacation of mine. My half marathon is Sunday followed by a Justin Timberlake concert on Monday. That's incentive enough to make it through the race! Have a great weekend and happy shopping!

PS No, I didn't bring that big tote with me while I shopped - I'm using it as my carry on bag and thought it deserved being photographed. It's extremely fun and vacation appropriate. It will come to Mexico with me in September!
