Thirteen Questions Tag

Chelsey over at Patti Cake is super fun and fabulous. Just sayin. So, when she asked to tag me in her Thirteen Questions post, I gladly accepted the challenge. Hopefully my answers are as interesting as hers, and if anything, it's always nice to share more pieces of me with you outside of my outfits of the day. I'll just jump right in!

1. What drink do you order at Starbucks?
Well, back when I used to walk by a Starbucks everyday to the office, my usual order was a "Double tall sugar free vanilla non-fat latte." It took forever for me to learn how to say those words in the proper order, and of course, now they just call it a "skinny vanilla latte." If I ever get around to making it there in the afternoons, I'm usually ordering a frappuccino of some sort - I alternate between the java chip or the caramel. It feels weird to me to drink a hot coffee in the middle of the afternoon.

2. What is the one thing in your closet that you can't live without?
I hate answering questions like these! It's like asking a mother who her favorite child is. I feel like I'm hurting all of my wardrobe's feelings by not picking them. If I answer this as my most prized possession, it would have to be my classic flap Chanel.

3. What's the one thing people don't know about you?
I'm afraid of any kind of insect that isn't a fly. I always acted calm and cool at the bus stop when the older kids would throw earthworms at the younger ones who were screaming and running away. I stifled my fear so they wouldn't target me. I acted like it was no big deal, but I was FREAKINGOUT inside.

4. What's the one thing you want to do before you die?
Meet Justin Timberlake, duh. I've got to touch him a couple of times at concerts (right hand, left knee, right foot), but to actually meet him and have a conversation with him? OMG, I don't even know what I'd say, but I still want it to happen. It will happen.

Taken at the *NSync "Celebrity" tour in 2002-ish

5. What's the one food you can't live without?
I'd have to say popcorn. I definitely have a salty tooth more than a sweet tooth, and nothing beats fresh popped corn. I'm all about just regular style butter and salt. And while we are on this topic, this is the best popcorn popper ever.

6. What's the one quote you live by?
Good or bad things, I believe this to be true, even if we may never know what that reason is:

7. What's the one thing you dislike about the blogging community?
People who are just out to get more followers. Not that I don't want more followers, of course I do. But I don't want people to follow me just because I am following them. I want them to follow me because *they* want to. Because they are actually interested in me and reading what I post. Along the same lines - I dislike when people aren't genuine. Someone had commented once about how much she liked my blog and she was my newest follower.  I was so truly touched and happy with her comment that she always stuck out in my mind. Not only did she end up posting the same exact comment to a different post of mine about 3 months later, I ended up seeing her copy/paste that same comment for other bloggers, too. Made me sad. (We participate in some of the same link ups, so I'd see her comments reading through other linked up pages. Promise I wasn't Single White Female stalking her.)

8. What is your number one song on iTunes?
I go through phases where I listen to certain songs on repeat for X amount of time. Right now it's a toss up between Justin's "Mirrors" (...and a pocket full of soap...) and Justin/JayZ "Holy Grail." Of course seeing him in concert recently has influenced these.

9. What kind of style would you describe yourself having?
I had to cheat on this one and refer back to an old post. I can never describe my style in just a few words, but the words I came up with in one of my first ever posts about "My Style" was: feminine bold classic glam. I'd say that still holds true right now, although I do feel like my style constantly evolves.

10. What's your favorite number?
I wouldn't necessarily say it's my favorite, but the number that seems to be most significant / prominent/ recurring in my life is 7. 22 would be a close second.

11. Two hobbies?
Other than shopping and blogging??! Sadly, those really are my only two hobbies and creative outlets. However, if you ask me what I am doing when I am not shopping or blogging (or working), I will tell you that most likely I am watching baseball. I said in a recent post that I will have to tell you guys the story about how I literally became a Cardinals super fan over night. I will one day, promise. I love my redbirds, and honestly, the only thing I watch on regular TV other than Friends re-runs are Cardinals games. And I scream and cheer as if every game were the World Series. Pretty sure it annoys the living hell out of the husband, but he does cheer with me. We have a quarter of a season's tickets.

12. Two pet peeves?
a) Bad breath. b) People mispronouncing my name, which happens ALL. THE. TIME. My name is actually Caryl, which is really the same as Carol. But people call me Cheryl, Carly, Carolyn, and the most common - Carl. I really don't think it's that hard. That's why my blog pen name is Carylee. My middle name is Lee and I have found that when I slur the two together into one word like that, people actually say it correctly.

13. Your guilty pleasure?
Fast food. I am not a food snob by any means, and can eat basically any kind of fast food that exists. Taco Bell, White Castle, McDonald's, really doesn't matter, I'll eat it, and I'll like it. I mentioned that I really don't have a sweet tooth. Well, for whatever reason, lately I am always craving the Caramel Apple Empanadas from Taco Bell. Holy crap so good.

Hope you all enjoyed that! If you have a blog, then I'd love it if you did one of these, too, and send me a link so I can read about you! Or, if you do not have a blog, feel free to share in the comments section below! Either way, thanks for reading! And I don't just mean today!

    1. Yay! Glad you liked it!
I live on the Illinois side of the STL metro area. My husband is from here, I actually grew up in Texas, but have been living here for almost 7 years now and love it a lot! I honestly used to hate baseball, but the 2011 World Series changed my life and I haven't been the same since! Haha!
I'm glad you guys are hosting the link up! Will for sure see me again regularly!

  2. Omg- you are the sweetest! Talk about Genuine- look in a mirror lady! You are super genuine and funny, which is why I have enjoyed conversing with you and getting to know ya! Though I am wondering if I should now write to you as Caryl instead of Carylee?... bc you know, now I know. :) I had the same feelings with #2, haha- "like picking a favorite child"! Haha what I came up with was pretty crappy compared to your beautiful Chanel purse! OMG! Interestingly you and my husband both share two similar obsessions- baseball and popcorn! Though, he will always be rooting for the Brewers. Thanks for playing along!

    1. You can call me whatever you want!!! Haha And no! Your moccasins are super adorable! I was trying to think of my one thing I always reach for, but it would have been my chambray and that's boring! So I went lux instead! And I have nothing against the Brewers! If he was a Cubs fan, that'd be a problem! They're just mean to us! (No offense to any Cubs fans reading this)
