Guest Post: Style Diary

Welcome to Day 2 of my week of guest posts! Today you guys get Katie from Style Diary! I first ran into Katie through mutual linkups. I fell in love with her after seeing this post where she remixed floral jeans. I died when I saw the metallic cap toe heels! I love that she is so down to earth, she has great style and is not afraid to take risks, and she's from Texas where my heart will always belong! Oh, and her nail art skills are ridiculous! I'm so happy she is here today! So, take it away, Katie!

One of my biggest wardrobe goals for this year is to buy less trendy pieces, and more classic, well-fitting pieces that will last for a while. I am 25 after all- I need to start creating a more adult closet! One staple item I've been on the hunt for is the perfect tee. You might think that would be easy to find, but I wanted one that draped perfectly, was soft, washed well, and could be dressed up or down. I finally settled on this one from H&M. It fits all my "perfect tee" criteria, and at only $9.95, it was a great buy! It comes in several different colors, but I settled on the gray one since it was a color I didn't already have. Today, I am showing three different ways I styled my tee to show how versatile and completely necessary it is for your own closet.   On Saturdays, I love to wear easy dresses and skirts while I'm out running errands. I love this casual circle skirt, and the black and white pattern pairs so easily with my gray tee. I threw on a white faux leather vest to add a little edge, and the yellow bag added the perfect pop of color. A silver necklace and sandals finished off my weekend ready look.

Now that the weather is perfect for patio dining, my "night out" uniform needed a bit of tweaking. I like to be a bit more casual for dinners out when eating outside, so the tee and jeans combo totally works. All I had to do to make it fit the occasion was add a bunch of necklaces and some comfortable heels and I had a look that was just dressed-up enough.

After dressing up my tee for a night out, I figured it could certainly be work appropriate as well. I love mixing super comfy pieces in with my work outfits to ease myself back in to business casual on Monday mornings. My gray tee works perfectly under a blazer with sleek tuxedo trousers and heels.

A big thanks to Carylee for letting me take over her blog today! Feel free to check out my blog to see more of my day to day looks.

  1. Loving each of these looks and I agree that a gray tee is a total closet necessity! It's fun to see how much one basic piece can be dressed up or dressed down.
