Boston and Providence: What I Wore

I spent the majority of last week up in New England. Tomorrow I'm off for an overnight trip to Toronto, and then Friday I leave for a long weekend of work and leisure in San Antonio. Yeah, the thought of packing terrifies me!! But the good thing is, even when I'm traveling, I still get good content for the blog because (assuming the hotels have great full length mirrors), I can still share what I'm wearing and what I'm doing. Some of you got the real time updates of this if you follow me on Snapchat (carylee07) but it's always nice to formally document stuff here also. This blog makes for a nice diary of sorts!

Day 1: Travel day, tour Boston
Jacket: Express (option) | Scarf: Express (option, option) | Top: Old Navy | Jeans: American Eagle | Booties: Sam Edelman (option)

I've said this many times before, but whenever I'm spending any kind of time in an airport, I'm most concerned with light layers and comfortable shoes. We were just going to be spending the balance of the day in a car and maybe walking a little bit around the city, which made jeans an easy and acceptable option for me. I have this jacket in olive also, but just recently got this grey version. Express needs to re-release it because it's the perfect layer.

Day 2: Drive from Boston to Providence,
meeting with vendor from lunch through dinner
Vest: Work logo'd vest (option) | Top: JCrew FactoryBottoms: Express (option) | Booties: Hinge (option)

I've come to realize that I hate meeting people for the first time when I'm wearing flat shoes, so if I can, I will opt for a heeled shoe instead. Since I knew we wouldn't be doing a ton of walking on day 2, I brought a pair of heeled booties with me. Heeled, but a manageable stacked wood heel - even though I do love my stilettos, I still know when to be practical! The meeting was casual, so I didn't need to do slacks or a dress or anything like that. I threw on a quilted vest with my company logo on it, which ended up being perfect for the weather - not really warm, but not as cool as the day before.

Day 3: Travel day
Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (similar) |Scarf: Express (optionoption) | Tunic: LOFT | Leggings: Vince Camuto (option) | Booties: Sam Edelman (option)

The last day was strictly a travel day. I met my coworker in the hotel lobby at 7:30 (6:30 central time) and I didn't walk into my house until 4pm central time that afternoon. It was a long day and the airport and airplanes just seem to magnify my tiredness! But, at least it was a travel day so leggings and a tunic take the edge off just a little bit! And a top knot. Always a top knot on a travel day. Sadly, it didn't get a pat down at security so I feel like it wasn't big enough. :-)

The MIT Stata Center designed by Frank Gehry

As we were touring the markets, we got to visit (or at least drive by) a few notable locations, which is always fun. It allows me to put my architect hat back on and reminds me how much I love and appreciate the art of architecture. And I always love seeing stadiums - not just baseball stadiums, though those hold a special place in my heart for obvious fandom reasons.

Overall it was a good trip and the weather cooperated with us, which was nice also! I just realized it's going to be hard to snap from Toronto with my data service turned off! Oh no! #socialmediaaddictproblems Anyhoo, thanks for following along and letting me share! Wish me luck and rest on the next two trips!!
