Another packing post

(Outfit details included below individual photos below)

With our recent holiday trip to SoCal again last week comes another packing post for you all! As usual, my planning typically starts with flat lays. It's just easier for me in terms of cataloging and jogging ideas. I wasn't really sure what we would be doing outside of Christmas itself and my blogger lunch, so everything else really just needed to be comfortable and remixable. I decided to ween myself down to 3 pairs of shoes and only 1 scarf. Outside of that, everything pictured above came with me, and some of what you see was acquired on the trip! I did also bring this neutral jacket in case I needed it, and then the only outfit that is missing you can see here. For the record, I did not check a bag. :)

Day 1: Travel
Necklace: Kendra Scott | Cardigan: Paperdolls Boutique | Tank: Target (maternity for length only, don't start rumors) | Leggings: The Fashion Lane (c/o) | Booties: Joie

Monday was a travel day. I went ahead and did the heeled booties for travel because we actually had a direct flight from St. Louis to Orange County - thank you, Southwest! It was wonderful. It makes such a big difference in terms of timing, and I can definitely manage wearing the heeled booties in the airport since I don't have to worry about traipsing around a secondary airport searching for a connecting gate. The only things we did when we landed were eat burgers and visit the nephew, so this outfit was perfect for all of the above.

Day 2: Shopping and dinner
Scarf: Nordstrom | Top: Express | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Leggings: Express | Sneakers: Converse

Day 2 was spent finishing up Christmas shopping and then my sister booked reservations for us to have dinner near the Mission Inn in Riverside, CA. It was raining on and off throughout the day, so I didn't want to wear the suede booties nor heels. I had to dress around the Converse, which ended up being fine. I threw on this neutral jacket to finish off this outfit.

Day 3's outfit is fully recapped here. That was the day of our blogger meet up. Since it was a 2 hour drive each way (closer to 3 hours coming home hitting rush hour traffic), I just changed into my jammies when we got back to my dad's house around 6:30 that evening. My sister came over with her hubby and the nephew, so my PJs were totally suitable for this audience.

Day 4: Christmas Eve
Necklace: JCrew (gifted from Rachelle) | Dress: Bailey 44 | Sweater coat: The Fashion Lane | Heels: SJP

We always celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve - pretty late. We had service at my dad's church at 7pm, then came back to my dad's house to eat and open gifts with the immediately family and all our cousins. I ended up changing for the gift giving and eating portion of the night - a modified version of Day 2's outfit, but this is what I wore to church. This sweater coat is a recent purchase and I am just too obsessed.

Day 5: Christmas Day
Jacket: JCrew Factory | Necklace: Bloomingdales (gifted from Charnele) | Top: Charming Charlie | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Bottoms: Joe's | Booties: Joie

Admittedly, I spent much of Christmas day in my pajamas! It was nice! Since we had a late night, we took our time getting up in the morning. Everyone just kind of laid around, and I ended up writing a blog post! I finally got dressed later that afternoon because we decided to see Star Wars! This was definitely a perfectly casual outfit for that!

For the travel day home on Saturday, I ended up just wearing bits and pieces of the outfits above - this neutral jacket, fleece lined leggings, Converseplaid scarf. It was early, and I looked rough, so I skipped a photo. I'm sure you understand. :)

My last official packing post of 2015, tear! I can't believe it's almost over! I'll be recapping my favorites for 2015 tomorrow!

  3. Flat lays are an awesome idea for packing. I usually try on every single outfit and then get bored with playing dress up midway through and throw everything in my suitcase. I may be a bit of an overpacker. ;-)

  4. As a frequent traveler, I love this post. I'm always trying to shove as much as I can in a carry on. I someone successfully traveled to Ireland with only a carryon.. for a 10 day trip!

  5. Oof! I'm so sorry to hear you hit rush hour traffic on the way home! You are truly an expert packer, though. When will you begin hiring out your services? My next trip is Spring Break and I'm already dreading it!! So so glad you have family in SoCal so I get to see you on a somewhat regular basis!
