The elephant in the room

blush and grey outfit
Sunnies: Ray Ban | Bralette: Express (options here and here) | Top: Express "London tee" (limited sizes in exact color, other colors here) | Bag: Kate Spade (options here and here) | Bottoms: American Eagle (options here, here, here) | Shoes: Louise et Cie (options here, here, here)

Ok, so I've been going back and forth about whether or not to talk about this, much less post this outfit! I bought these pants a few weeks ago and wore them in this outfit seen here. Well the same day I wore that outfit, I received this floral top from CS Gems, and like I often do, I posted try-on photos of my new top onto Instagram stories. I had just thrown the top on with these pants I already had on. Now granted, the lighting in the room where I take my selfies is so super yellow because we have orange-ish wood floors plus yellow paint on the walls plus really warm yellow bulbs. But, two blogger friends plus one random follower sent me messages saying that they thought I wasn't wearing any pants. I realize these pants are more on the peach side vs. blush, but the thought of them being too close to my skin tone never occurred to me until I got those messages and then I was extremely self-conscious even though I do really love the pants.

I put them on and begged the husband to tell me the truth and nothing but the truth, and he swears that he doesn't think I look pantless. I would be whole-heartedly in agreement had it not been for those comments! So, long story short, I'm just throwing this out there because I'm sure other people will think the same thing, and I guess I'm saying that I am rebelling and wearing them anyway!

Not every body has to like or agree with what you wear! Fashion is so personal and subjective that there will naturally be different opinions, but you gotta just keep being you, right? And no, this is not me fishing for compliments or having you side with me against any nay-sayers. I just figured I would comment on the elephant in the room and make the statement that yes, yes, I am wearing pants, and yes, I need a tan.

  1. LOL I would never imagine you would post a photo much less a whole post without pants! I think the color is color and I love how it pairs with that top.

  3. I love the color of yours... but it can be tricky... I have a light mauve color, and on other people I don't like the look... so I have decided it probably isn't the best look on me either. So I am getting rid of them... I found the same pants in a darker shade of mauve, so I am happy!!

  5. Well shoot! Now that you've told me this I can't un-see it! But I don't know if I would have noticed it right away on my own. But the pants are a pretty color regardless and you can always add some self tanner for contrast! :)
