Manic Monday: Anniversary Sale Recap

Whew! It was a busy weekend, but driving 4 hours each way to shop the most anticipated sale of the year will do that to you! It's still early access time right now through Thursday, but for those of you getting your lists ready for the sale to go public on Friday, I thought it would be great to recap all the goodies I tried. After all - stock photos don't always portray the pieces accurately, amiright? This will be a pretty photo heavy post, so grab your coffee, and let's indulge.
Left: Pedro Garcia perforated bootie: $349.90/ $525 after sale
Right: Joe's "Ali" Ankle Strap Pump: $96.90/ $144.95 after sale

First, these are the two things I had my Nordstrom SA order the first day of the sale. Since I wasn't able to make it up to Chicago until Saturday, I wanted to make sure I was able to get my hands on these two before they sold out in my size. It's been kind of my "thing" to  buy a new Pedro Garcia bootie every year (you can see my other two pairs from the last two years here and here.) I was able to try the Pedros on in black and they fit and felt great, The nude color will be a perfect rounding out of my little collection. The Joe's ankle strap is just as beautiful in person. I wasn't able to try them on in my size, so I'm very anxious to know if these will work out.

Sam Edelman "Palma" sandal: $99.90/ $159.95 after sale

Guys. The Sam Edelman "Palma" is such a fantastic sandal. They feel great on - they are manageable to walk in, despite the heel height, and did I mention they feel great on? My toughest decision was which pair to buy. I had originally wanted them in the Putty color, but they were just extra striking in black. My entourage of 3 agreed with the black, which is funny because my IG followers favored the grey. So perhaps you should see this one in person before you make your color decision because the black really sold me when they were on my feet. But in all honesty, they're both fabulous. With my Joe's and Pedro's coming to me in grey and nude respectively, I figured it was ok to go with black in this shoe.

Top Left: Louise et Cie "Vernonia" bootie (Minx): $99.90/ $149.95 after sale
Top Right: Louise et Cie "Vernonia" bootie (Tiramisu): $99.90/ $149.95 after sale
Bottom Left: Ivanka Trump "Didia" cage bootie$99.90/ $149.95 after sale
Bottom Right: Vince Camuto "Vala" bootie: $89.90/ $138.95 after sale

Not counting the two pairs that are on their way to me, I ended up walking away from the sale with only the one pair of new shoes. But I tried on these lovelies and thought I would let you know why I passed on them in case any of these are on your list. The Louise et Cie booties are really fun! I actually loved them in the animal print first, but they didn't have my size, so I tried them on in the cognac to see how they fit. Maybe these will work better for you gals with long and lean toes because they didn't work with my short stubbies. The peep toe is the smallest peep ever, so you could only see the very tip of my second toe - none of my other toes were visible, so they looked awkward on me. Sad. The Ivanka Trump booties hurt. Even though they're suede, the scallop edge scratched my ankles in a bad way, and the fit was a bit big also. My cousin picked out the Vince Camuto booties for me - I loved the feminine dip at the side. Unfortunately, this "dip" was not quite placed in the right spot, and it dug into the underside of my ankle ball.
Left: Marc by Marc Jacobs hobo: $292.90/ $438 after sale
Right: Marc by Marc Jacobs messenger bag: $232.90/ $348.95 after sale

Clearly, I'm a sucker for a good colorblock, but I need a large hobo and another cross body like I need a hole in my head. My SA walked around with the hobo while I finished my shopping (and I'm sure to taunt me), but in the end, I was strong and decided against it. The messenger bag was another pick of my cousin's - and this was even more tempting than the hobo, but again, I passed. I didn't leave this department empty handed though.

I've linked to the grey version of this Rebecca Minkoff bag (without studs) as a good alternative to my classic flap Chanel. The cognac color just grabbed me in person and well, the studs... you know I can't resist the studs.  I only have my large MK tote in cognac, so I was "needing" a smaller cognac bag, and this was great. It's awesome that it converts from the shoulder bag to more of a cross body.

Left: Zella colorblock capris: $33.90/ $52 after sale
Middle: Zella Triple-block leggings: $41.90/ $64 after sale
Right: Hanky Pank low rise thong$14.90 each (4 for $52)/ $23 each after sale

I can't not stock up on workout stuff or undies during these sales. I love the Zella leggings - I have 3 pairs of the basic black that I couldn't live without, but to be honest, I love them so much, I don't normally work out in them. I figured I should actually get legit workout leggings. The mesh inserts on these two pairs are fun (and functional.)

I'm not sure I've mentioned before but I can't wear anything but Hanky Panky undies. Maybe a bit TMI, but I love them because they're ridiculously comfortable, they serve the purpose of a thong in that they eliminate VPL, but the crotch still has substantial coverage, which aids in the comfort. I've replaced all my undies with Hanky Panky, and do so by stocking up during sales like these, or at places like Nordstrom Rack and Rue La La flash sales.

Bellatrix Print Faux wrap top: $39.90/ After sale: $60

I loved the print of this Bellatrix top so much, and I'm always such a fan of a wrap anything. Unfortunately, they didn't have my size, so I may just have to order it… still debating. In the meantime, I went ahead and picked it up in another color.

Bellatrix Print Faux wrap top (in gold/magenta/brown diamond): $39.90/ After sale: $60

We were thinking at first that the top in the second color was too fall - I immediately pictured it with olive skinnies and some wine colored boots. But I think it still has some great summer potential. It's very lightweight, and while I'm not usually a fan of the high-lo hem, I didn't mind it in this top, especially since I feel like I partial tuck my tops so much lately anyway.

JOA Floral Sequin skirt: $64.90/ After sale: $98

These pictures really do not do this JOA floral sequin skirt justice. This is one item that I actually loved on the hanger more so than I loved on the model. I saw someone walk out of the tent with this and I loved it instantly so had to try it for myself. The website describes this as a "body-con" skirt, and I'm not sure I would agree with that. Yes, it's cut like a pencil skirt, but to me, body-con pieces are crazy form fitting, and I didn't feel like this was at all. Plenty of room to move around it, and it's quite lightweight considering the sequins. This was an easy yes for me, and I promise it's better in real life than in these photos.

And that's it! After all was said and done, I didn't even spend $200 because of my Nordstrom notes I had accrued all year, which is awesome, because my new bag alone is $225 after the sale! We'll see what my grand total ends up being once the other two pairs of shoes show up, but I'd say it was a pretty successful shopping trip. I plan to wear at least one new piece for the remainder of the week in case you need further convincing or styling inspiration. Otherwise - let me know if you have any questions about anything I tried! Would love to hear what you've gotten also!

  3. Ahhhh!!! So much goodness! And so much jealous!! LOL. I LOVE those Sam Edelman sandals in BOTH colors. I don't know if I could choose just one! I do not need any new shoes heels and yet...those are so tempting. Especially when you list the before/after sale price. I am also loving the Bellatrix wrap tops (and again...the sale price!!) and think I could easily work one into my summer wardrobe since I have virtually no short sleeve blouses. The detail on the skirt looks like it will be incredible in person. Can't wait to see your real life pics with that! Sorry, too hard to NOT write a paragraph today. :)

    1. Aww, this is a relief. I was worried the post would be extra boring. But I'm glad it was still engaging!! And yes! The prices are amazing! And I was the same about the Bellatrix top- in need of short sleeve stuff. It will be great to layer also! Do it! :)

  8. Love that you drove a total of 8 hours to get to a Nordstrom! I would have done the same if I had to! Lucky for me, we have a Nordstrom about 15 minutes away. (very dangerous!) lol! I love your picks! I think they had a great selection of booties this year. I bought the Halogen Claudia zipper trim leather bootie and I adore them. They caught my eye right away from the catalog. I also picked up a pair of Steve Madden quilted slip ons and I have the Sam Edelman Pembrooke coming to me in the mail. I also did well in the clothing department. So many gorgeous coats and jackets this year! I'm also debating on ordering the Bebe mixed faux fur jacket! I absolutely love it but not sure if I'd get much use.. we shall see!

And sadly, there are two Nordstroms I could have easily visited locally. I just made the drive because my SA relocated to Chicago and we couldn't bear to be apart on the biggest shopping day! That's probably way worse than driving bc there is no Nordstrom nearby!!! :)
