The pullover sweater obsession

Sunnies: TOMS | Scarf: Charming Charlie | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Sweater: Gap | Tunic: Express (Grace and Lace option here) | Fleece lined leggings: The Fashion Lane | Boots: DV Dolce Vita (option)

Last week in between the holidays, the husband and I finally downloaded both Netflix and Hulu. We spent the bulk of New Year's Eve watching The Mindy Project. I bought one of her books, Why Not Me, to read on the long, direct flight to Orange County. I'm a handful of pages from finishing it, which is huge because I haven't read a book in its entirety since I started blogging three years ago. So sad, right? I've developed a bit of a girl crush on her, so I definitely wanted to start watching her show also. I'm only halfway through the first season but I'm hooked! Anyway, I tell you this because now the husband has me into this documentary on Netflix called "Making a Murderer" and I'm just not used to getting into anything on TV other than baseball. 2016 has changed me, y'all!

Jacket: JCrew

Speaking of change - my mood for sweaters constantly changes. There was a time where I owned a ton of chunky, pullover sweaters. Then there was a time where I got sick of all of them and replaced them all with layering cardigans. Over the last couple of years, my stock of cardigans has diminished. I have a few flyaway cardigans and a couple of longer, chunky knit cardigans, but I've went from owning dozens of cardigans to literally just "a" dozen. On top of that, I've been craving basic, cable knit pullover sweaters. I mentioned in my Black Friday post that I had ordered some from Gap, and suffice it to say, they're exactly what I was looking for.

In the last month or so that I've had them, I've been reaching for them a lot. They're really great on their own or as a layer. (They layer perfectly over the Express oversized plaid shirt, BTW.) I wasn't sure which size I should order. I decided to size up judging how they fit the model in the stock photo - I'm wearing a medium. They're more forgiving than they look on the model - I could have gotten a small and it still would have a relaxed fit. Not quite long enough to wear alone with leggings, but these top extenders would solve that for you!

I loved the the three I bought so much that I ended up ordering the burgundy color, and I'm glad I did because that color is now sold out. I picked a size small for that one, and as I suspected, it fits just fine - still plenty of room to layer under it. If you're in the market for the perfect sweater, these are definitely stalk-worthy! And I hope I have proven that they're versatile.

  2. Oh my, Making A Murderer has been on non-stop since I started it. Mind blowing. Love the looks featured. It's so cold here in VA right now that I need to layer more. And now I want more chunky knits!
