A new year

Happy New Year! It's hard to believe that the holidays have come and gone. I enjoyed slowing down these last couple of weeks, but it's also nice to get back into the swing of things at the same time! So yes, I do actually have a brand new outfit post for you today to officially kick off 2017!

Bailey 44 Love Off the Shoulder top, Kendra Scott Phara necklace, Kate Spade Licorice glitter pumps
Sunnies: Vince Camuto (similar) | Earrings: Forever 21 | Necklace: Kendra Scott "Phara" (gifted) | Bag: BCBGeneration | Top: Bailey 44 (cheaper, but limited sizes here) | Bottoms: Express (option) | Shoes: Kate Spade "Licorice"

I wore this for our New Year's Eve festivities. There were a few other outfits that I had in mind but ended up choosing this at the last second. We had plans to stop over his sister's and her boyfriend's place for a casual get together, and then at the last minute, we were invited to dinner with his cousin and her husband before the party. I knew I wanted something that was comfortable, but of course I had to add in festive splashes!

The weather was surprisingly mild, for a midwest winter anyway. It was in the high 40s, low 50s, so I didn't feel the need to wear tons and tons of layers. I picked up this off the shoulder top a couple of weeks ago and realized it would be perfect for the night. After all, bare shoulders may be my favorite trend of 2016, so I may as well end the year in what I love most!

This is the perfect off the shoulder top, too, because the neckline isn't all elasticized like most others are, which means it stays put and doesn't continuously ride up to my neck all night. Hooray for no fidgeting! And you know my love for Bailey 44 is real, and this top is no exception. It's perfectly fitted without being constricting and the color is so saturated and beautiful!

The party was inside a barn, and while everything was fully heated with concrete floors, the husband thought I was dumb for wanting to wear my party heels. I was going to just wear them to dinner and then bring a change of shoes for the party, but at the last second, I decided to just ditch the glitter and go with my black over the knee, stacked wood heel boots. Sigh. I still loved the outfit with the boots, but these glitter heels were with me at the party in spirit.

Not going to lie, I ended up being ridiculously hungover for our Christmas festivities with the family, thanks to a party we attended the night before. I did not want to go through that pain again, especially with only a couple of more days off before the work week starts again, so I drank responsibly on New Year's Eve and managed to wake up on New Year's Day sans hangover. I still had a lot of fun, and let me tell you, it's way better than feeling like crap. So yay for a new year, new beginnings, and being an adult! Ha! Hope your new year is even better than the last!

Also - just a reminder that the Hello Monday linkup has been off the last couple of weeks. Don't fret, it has not gone away, we will be back up next Monday!

  6. Perfect NYE party outfit with boots or heels. (There are never enough reasons to wear party heels, are there?) On Snapchat it looked like you still had plenty of fun so I'm glad you were able to avoid a hangover!

  11. Love this look for NYE! It's the perfect mix of feminine and edgy. I also love the heels! Sadly, I was so out of it after Nate's birthday that on NYE, I went over to my friend's house looking like I had just woken up...because I had! LOL
