Manic Monday: Adjustments

I've been wanting to wear this anchor shirt for awhile! I originally planned to wear it with this metallic skirt and my new metallic booties. I got dressed, even went through the motions of taking photos. But once I saw all the photos on my iPad, I decided the outfit needed some adjustments. These booties with the metallic skirt was a bit much. And the taupe tights were reading too much like pantyhose! *shivers*

Since the booties have a purplish undertone, I knew they'd be perfect with my plum skinnies. And since I was nixing the silver skirt, I decided to switch out the silver multi-strand necklace with a couple of different ones worn layered. I definitely feel more comfortable and satisfied with this new ensemble.

Earrings: Target (option) | Necklaces: Banana Republic (option), Express (option) | Top: Express (option) | Pants: Express (option) | Belt: Urban Outfitters (option) | Bangles: Misc mix (option) | Booties: Jeffrey Campbell | Sunnies: Tom Ford (option)

Mix it Monday: See how else I've styled these skinnies!

In terms of other adjustments - you may or may not have noticed, but as a one-year present to my blog, I finally took the plunge and bought my own domain. So, you can now find me at morepiecesofme.com! My blogspot address will re-direct to my domain, so this is really a seamless change for you readers. Such a small detail, but makes me quite happy. And then on top of this, I also bought a new 50mm lens. I can't believe I waited this long to buy one. Seriously. Such a huge difference, and I'm excited to experiment more with it! Finally, as you can see from these photos, I've been practicing using a camera remote. The husband was out of town, so I took these photos all by myself! I need to try the 2 second delay function so that my hand isn't in an awkward position. But, for my first go, I was pretty pleased with myself!

  1. I definitely agree with your outfit adjustments and it's fun to see the changes you made and your reasons behind it. Usually we just see the final outfit result and for me there's often a "process," so it's nice to know that others go through the same process. Whether photos are involved or I'm just feeling OFF, I definitely have to make adjustments regularly. (I wish I had thought to pair that top with plum! Part of my reason for returning it was I could only think to pair it with white skinnies and that felt too spring/summer. Oh well...)

    1. I'm glad you enjoyed this! This is a challenge of mine when I take photos ahead of the days I wear these outfits! I end up making these tweaks, but then the original photos become worthless! In one hand it's good, because I'm get a chance to tweak the outfit before I do actually wear them, but on the other it's bad for photos! But I could see myself doing a "what I changed about this outfit" post being a recurring theme! Oh and, when all else fails plum/wine skinnies seriously go with everything. Everything.

  4. Metallic is so in. I can't pull it off but of course you are the girl that can pull off ANYTHING! I'm digging how you paired plum with blue. Cool colors work well together that way. I need you to enter my closet and put some things together. Would you please? Have a lovely day!

And thank you SO much for the encouraging words about the photos! It was tough, but I know it will get easier! Good luck with yours, I'm sure they'll be great!

  15. Don't you hate when that happens? Scrapping an entire set of photos sucks but it's so worth it if you're happier with the second outcome :) I love those booties and belted skinnies with this top! It turned out awesome.

  17. Ahh the ye old camera and remote trick. I use it all the time and you slowly get better at hiding the little thing. Or, if you're like me, you use the two second timer and chuck the remote out of the way and onto the street. I don't recommend this, mine was almost run over once when I chucked it too far...

    1. Hahaha!!! Awesome!! And yes, I'll have to set up the 2 second delay! I'm just happy this is SO much better than setting a timer then running for your life to get in place and look natural!

  18. Thanks so much for hosting this link up! I'm so impressed by your pictures - I am going to have to take the plunge and get a proper camera and remote as you're doing, great idea. I agree with you about your remix, although all the pieces separately are fab - love those booties and the silver skirt too. The second outfit is very cool, and you look so relaxed too. Glad to be linking up again x
