Red bag, white blazer, and blue jean shorts

Left: see pin here

Happy Independence Day, everyone! I really love the 4th of July, obviously for everything it stands for, but also because it's in the heart of summer, which makes me so happy. While this outfit doesn't contain your typical patriotic colors, I felt it was still appropriate for the holiday because it's so summer chic. I want to walk on a boardwalk wearing this, on a cool summer evening, eating an ice cream cone! Or, perhaps, mingle around in the suburbs of St. Louis.

Sunnies: Tom Ford | Blazer: Halogen (last seen here) (option, option)  | Bag: Foley + Corinna | Top: Old Navy (option, patriotic option)  | Bracelet: Express (option) | Watch: Fossil (option) | Shorts: Express | Shoes: DV Dolce Vita (limited sizes here and here, in black here)

I'm loving these shorts so much (also seen here). They're so easy and low maintenance. They're perfectly distressed and worn in. They're a great warm weather version of my favorite distressed jeans. I sized up in them so they had an even more relaxed fit and could sit lower on my hips. So, if you're on the hunt for your perfect shorts, look no further!

  3. Love your ensemble today!! I've been thinking lately that a white blazer might be a good staple to have around, and you just fueled that fire a bit :-) Love the casual look with it! I've also noticed you have a great collection of graphic tees...I need more of those too bc they are just so easy to wear (I need to have more options in the rotation)! Happy Fourth girl!!

    1. The white blazer is certainly growing on me. I love the idea of it and I love it in this outfit, but I do have a hard time styling it on my own. So you need to buy one so I can pull inspiration from you! :) And yes, I love me a good graphic tee. I've been trying to snag them as I see them! They're definitely the best thing to throw on in a pinch and still feel put together!

      Happy 4th!!!

  4. Love this look, and I really wish I had tried those jean shorts before buying the ones I did this year. They looked so short on he model but they look perfect on you. Great styling altogether on all the pieces and I want your hairrrrr.

    1. Sizing up helps with the length! They're def big in the waist but they hang lower and you wouldn't know any different. I'm obsessed with them right now.

  5. I like the dark graphic with the white blazer on top, its really effective, both look great with your distressed shorts. I never think to wear a blazer with a pair of shorts but then again I live in UK so we don't get much of a chance to wear shorts!! You look great!

    1. Aww, thanks for the nomination - I will check it out!
And thank you! These shoes were a random purchase - I bought them out of necessity in San Francisco last fall after shopping in 8 hours in my wedge boots. They are adorable though, and glad I have been able to wear them since then!

  14. I have major hair envy! Do you use a wand or curling iron? I'm asking even though its irrelevant since I just chopped all my hair off, haha! Love the casual blazer and shorts look. I'd love to rock this, but I'd probably faint from heat exhaustion.

    1. Haha, yes, I do not miss Texas heat, although it hasn't been much cooler here lately!
And I've been using the wand lately. It gives such great results - I'm obsessed! I'm sure your hair would look great with the wand even though it's shorter!
