How I saved my bag

If you couldn't tell, I seem to have started a little collection of saying tees. I saw this online and couldn't resist it. It's clever, and I love clever things. Like this iPhone case, which was a lunch hour purchase because I had dropped my other one, oh, about 348834 times, and it needed to be replaced.

Sunnies: Vince Camuto | Earrings: Express | Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (option, option)  | Top: Project Social Tee | Bracelet: ExpressBottoms: Express | Shoes: Steve Madden | Phone Case: Kate Spade

I figured I would go monochromatic today with just the splash of contrast color in my favorite leopard sneakers. I've had this bag for a few years now, and it will always be one of my favorites. True story - I was visiting a friend in Chicago, and as we were leaving the movie theater, there was a torrential downpour. Actually, I'm not even sure there is a term for how hard it was raining. It was windy, rain was sideways, it was crazy. We tried to wait it out, but it didn't look like it was stopping anytime soon and the theater employees were kicking us out anyway because we had watched the last showing for the night. It's not even that *I* was afraid of getting wet. It's that I didn't want my bag to be ruined!

While it's not necessarily the most expensive bag, it's still special to me and the leather is so buttery soft-- I didn't want to take any risks! It was summertime, so I didn't have a jacket, and we had no umbrellas on us. What was a girl to do? I just happened to be wearing a cotton tee shirt dress, and lucky for me, I always wear this slip under all my skirts and dresses. So, I stood there, just outside of the movie theater doors, strategically removing my slip while keeping my dress in place. I wrapped Jake (my bag's name is Jake, duh) inside my slip. I cradled him like a baby and held him for dear life as we made a mad dash for the car. We got in the car, wet to the bone, but lo and behold - Jake was dry as can be.

See - this is reason 238636874 why you guys need to wear slips!

  3. I am DYING!! You took off your slip to protect your BAG?!?! RU SERIOUS!?! That takes the cake. (Well...second place after my outfits on Monday, that is...ha ha.) Thank you for making me laugh today. And yes, those leopard slip ons are adorable. Maybe in fall/winter when I'm interested in closed-toe shoes I'll rethink them. :)

    1. Hahaha! I can't believe I've never told you this story before. It's a good one. I am glad you appreciated it!! I always think of it now whenever I use this bag. I feel like it doesn't get a lot of air time, but I did wear it all. The. Time. just before I started blogging. It still smells delicious :)
