Random roundup

I've seriously been trying to finish this post for two weeks now. But with the Express sale and then the Nordstrom anniversary sale, I've gotten a bit distracted and wanted to share the deals with you! If you read on Friday, I have an appointment tomorrow to shop the Anniversary Sale through early access, and my plan is to summarize everything for you for Friday's post. That said, I didn't want to deprive you of your random roundup for a third week because these posts seem to be a fan favorite! So, let's just call this What I Wore Wednesday instead!

Jacket: JCrew Factory (similar) | Necklace: Stella and Dot | Tank: Express (try ink blue) | Shorts: The Clothes Line Boutique | Wedges: Sperry (option)

Soft shorts, soft pants - they're both so huge right now. I wasn't sure if I would like the soft short trend, but how adorable are these babies?! Kind of obsessed! If you remember, I wore these at the TCL Boutique/CS Gems style event here.

Top: Express | Necklace: House of HarlowBottoms: Express | Shoes: Steve Madden

These knot tees are seriously my go to when I don't want to think about what to wear. I love that they are forgiving but super fitted and still figure flattering. I can wear them with the skinniest of jeans and not feel self conscious. And the knot detail makes it a little more special than a basic top. Throw in some leopard, and let's call this a weekend look!

Necklaces: CS Gems (c/o) | Watch: Kate Spade | Top: Express | Skirt: Banana Republic | Booties: Vince Camuto (other colors here)

This selfie really doesn't do the outfit justice. The proportions look off, and it definitely made me feel like I had an hourglass figure when I was wearing it in real life. And these peep toe booties are seriously like a second skin - so super comfy, you can't beat it.

Necklaces: Francesca's layered over Purple PeridotTop: ExpressBottoms: American EagleShoes: Vince Camuto

This outfit was totally inspired by one of Jenna's looks here. I loooove the idea of layering a statement necklace over this Purple Peridot - it's genius, I tell you! And ever since Jenna posted that outfit on Instagram, I have been obsessed with the layering!

Necklace: Target | Plaid top: ExpressTee: ExpressBottoms: ExpressShoes: Vince Camuto

And last but not least is another knot tee, but as an under layer this time. I've come to realize that I can be extremely relaxed up top, but as long as I finish off with some perfect pumps, I feel complete. I just can't help it!

_________

Hope you're having a great week! I am less than 24 hours away from shopping my most favorite sale of the year! Eeeeeeee!!

Weekend recap and randoms

Happy Monday! Or, at least, can we try and make it a happy one? I felt super productive this weekend, which is a definite plus. Unfortunately, I was productive in real life, which means I was adversely as productive in blog life. Don't you wish we can do ALL THE THINGS at the same time?! I kind of killed two birds with one stone though by taking photos of this outfit as we were on our way to run errands this weekend.

I had a handful of things I needed to get and complete for a bridal shower this coming weekend. And, there were miscellaneous things we needed to buy for the house - we've been looking for a storage unit to go behind our table in our eat-in kitchen because otherwise, the kitchen table ends up collecting piles and piles of crap. There is also a corner of the eating area that has accumulated boxes filled with things that I would love to hide in something a little prettier to look at. We ordered this, which should arrive late next week and I can't wait to get organized. Seriously. Having a clean kitchen table feels SO GOOD.

I ordered this tee as part of Express' Memorial Day sale. People like Erin were convincing me that I needed it, and they were right. I'm now contemplating what colors I need next.

If you read Gina's post, you'll see the awesome recap she did of this outfit combination that went a little bit viral on Instagram. While I did manage to re-create the outfit in my own way, I'm re-creating it one more time based on Erin's adaption here. Unfortunately, I had to throw this jacket on because it seriously dropped 30+ degrees overnight. I'm not sure how it is acceptable for it to be 56 degrees this late in the year!!

Sunnies: Ray Ban | Earrings: Nickel and SuedeNecklace: Express (option) | Jacket: ExpressBag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (option) | Top: Express | Bracelets: H&M | Watch: Kate SpadeBottoms: Express | Shoes: Steve Madden

My weekly workouts have been going well, although week 2 was pretty rough because of my lady time. I got back on the horse for week 3 and I am definitely seeing progress. There is this one Pilates move (the roll over) that has been giving me trouble, and I've finally been able to do it…. well, at least one version of it. I can do this version holding the pegs, but I want to get to this version using the arm springs. Other people make it look so easy, but apparently I have no spine articulation in my lower back and my lower abs are weak! So, that's what I'm working on now!

That's enough randomness for one Monday! Have a great week!

Random roundup

This week went by so fast, yet so slow at the same time! How does that work! I have a pretty uneventful weekend in front of me, which to be honest, are always the best. I swear I feel like I have weekends planned already through the summer! I'll be back in tights and boots before you know it! For now, here are some springy looks for you that I've accumulated on my phone! Happy random roundup!

Scarf: JCrew Factory | Top: Express | Bracelets: Stella & Dot, Cara | Bottoms: American Eagle | Shoes: Kate Spade (limited sizes in black here)

This is what I ended up wearing for Easter. We just went to his cousin's house for some grub and to hang out. I couldn't resist these blush skinnies again. I'm obsessed with them, and if I can't wear them to work, I will wear them anywhere else I can!

Top: Express (similar) | Tee: ExpressBottoms: ZellaShoes: Steve Madden

This is what I wore to fly to San Antonio for all of 3 hours just to start our drive back with Petie. Needless to say, I needed something I could spend all day in. Something that would keep me at a comfortable temperature, and also something that I could easily wear all day. This certainly did the trick! Though I should have brought a jacket because it was colder than I anticipated as went through north Texas!

Jersey: Target | Tank: Victoria's Secret | Shorts: American Eagle | Socks: High Sock Sundays | Shoes: Converse

Ah, baseball! I'll be mixing in these game day looks every once in awhile! Opening day ended up falling on Easter, so this is what I changed into after I stuffed my face with ham and other yummy goodness.

Bag: Kate Spade | Top: J Crew Factory | Necklace: Banana Republic | Bottoms: ExpressSandals: Sam Edelman

To be honest, I have no idea where I was going when I wore this. I think I was running to the mall or something? Not sure, but it was definitely a weekend look. Oh! I remember! I did go to the mall in this. Then afterwards we went to one of the eat-in movie theaters to watch Furious 7. I loved the movie, but it still makes me sad about Paul Walker. I can't talk about it!!

Top: ExpressNecklace: CS Gems (c/o) | Bottoms: ExpressShoes: Kate Spade (budget option)

And last but not least is this outfit, which is one of my all time favorites. Nothing overly complicated-- just a portofino, but the heels. The heels make it special. And I wish I could record my co-workers' reactions when they turned the corner and saw me with their eyes popping out of their head at the shock of my shoes. It's priceless, I tell ya. Sadly, only about a dozen people made comments about them. I expected at least 20!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! I'll be back on Monday with some great photos from my closet room shoot!

Random roundup

Happy Friday! Hope everyone had a great week! I have a semi full weekend ahead of me - blogging, Fast and the Furious, Easter, all that good stuff! And to kick off the festivities, I've got my random roundup ready to go for you, so let's get started!

Necklaces: Stella and Dot, CS Gems (c/o) | Top: Express | Bracelets: H&M (Gifted) | Bottoms: Express | Shoes: Calvin Klein

I was so excited to start wearing more spring-like pieces. I haven't worn this floral portofino in awhile, so it was easy to throw on. I have been all about dusting off my favorite pumps lately. I'm pretty sure my feet are happy to be in heels again verses boots, and I swear my bare feet in heels are always way more comfy than my bare feet in flats. How is that possible? I featured these pumps wayyy back in the day here. Wow - April of 2013! Two years ago! Just goes to show that when I buy something, I really do mean for it to be in my collection for years.

Earrings: Kate Spade | Blazer: The Limited | Top: JCrew Factory | Bottoms: Express | Shoes: Steve Madden (more sizes here)

I love my bangs, but it's definitely been interesting trying to do my normal hairstyles around them! This was my first top knot with bangs, ever! And I also forgot how much I loved my leopard slip ons. It's definitely the season for bare ankles! Woo!

Necklace: Kate Spade | Top: Express (similar to Spiced Purple or Bitter Grape) | Bracelets: H&M (Gifted) | Skirt: Express | Heels: Louise et Cie

To say I'm obsessed with these pumps would be an understatement. I am kind of sad they are not available in a whole rainbow of colors because I would buy them all. The shape and point and fit and everything about them are perfect. If you're looking for a blush pump - seriously, don't think twice about these.

Necklace: CS Gems (c/o (option) | Top: JCrew FactoryBracelet: H&M (gifted) | Bottoms: Gap | Flats: JCrew Factory

This roundup is full of all my old favorites! I missed my camo pants so much during my capsule challenge! And I always have issues with flats being more uncomfortable than heels, but these flats are like butter - so soft and ridiculously comfortable. Another recommendation from me!

Necklaces: CS Gems (c/o) (option paired with option) Use code CARYLEE15 for 15% off! | Top: JCrew Factory | Bracelets: Stella and Dot, Nadri | Bottoms: Express | Flats: Ugg

I love curling my second day hair with bangs - this was a good hair day for me! I also love layering these necklaces. People often mistaken them for just one necklace since they really look like they were made as a set. They dress up a solid top nicely! And how adorable are the striped flats?!

That's it for the week! Have a great weekend and happy Easter!

Random Roundup

What a week! Thanks to everyone who has stuck with me. All my fashion week posts, and then my sporadic posting this week while I was sick.  Hopefully I can somewhat make it up to you with this installment of Random Roundup. These are all the random outfit selfies that didn't formally make the blog, but usually make it on Instagram for those of you that prefer a real time update. As always, I'm only linking to those pieces that are still available, and hopefully haven't sold out by the time this post goes live! Let's get get on it!

Necklace: Stella and DotBag: Kate Spade | Dress: JCrew Factory | Shoes: Valentino

Oh how I love this dress. You've seen this twice on the blog already. The first time was winterized here, and the second time was worn as a top here. I wanted to simply wear it with bare legs and pumps, so here you go. The weather was cool but still "warm" enough to go bare legged. This dress is such a happy piece. The saturated colors make me fall in love with it over and over.

Top: Express | Skirt: American Eagle | Shoes: Steve Madden

Really not much to say about this outfit. The husband and I were running out for weekend errands. My hair went up, I reached for my foolproof top, easy skirt, and loyal leopard sneaks. Honestly, I may as well be wearing pajamas because this outfit is that easy and required little thought or effort.

Top: JCrew FactoryBottoms: ExpressShoes: DV Dolce Vita

Oh look, yet *another* time I am wearing wine color skinnies like I talked about last week. The day I wore this was the day of the blogger awards. I needed a more casual outfit with flat shoes I could wear for work so I could preserve my feet for my heels that night. I just needed a neutral canvas for my face and hair that I could easily supplement and get all gussied up for the evening. I loved how the metallic cap toes of my shoes brought out the shine in my necklace.

Scarf: Express | Bracelet: Express | Top: JCrew Factory | Bottoms: American EagleShoes: Express

And so begins scarf season. I can't help it guys, I'm addicted. And when they drape beautifully like this, it just makes me happy. Anything + a drapey scarf equals an outfit. And because two pairs of destroyed jeans are not enough, I recently bought these from American Eagle. This is my most happiest outfit formula.

Tee: Cardinals store | Jeans: Express Rerock | Shoes: Isabel Marant

October is so stressful for me. Baseball in general is so stressful for me. And yes, I am sad that the Cardinals didn't make the World Series, but I really can't complain about the season they had! I figured I'd post one last Cardinals outfit to officially close out this season. Crazy because it feels like just yesterday I was blogging about the shopping I did in Florida while I was there for Spring Training!!

Necklace: Banana Republic | Top: ExpressSkirt: The Limited | Shoes: Sam Edelman

Last but not least is this "work" outfit. I've said many times before that I can wear anything I want to work - hence the outfits above. But when I know I have to meet with people outside of the office - I do try to wear more of the traditional work pieces - slacks, button ups, and in this case a good old pencil skirt. How adorable is the peplum on this thing? A subtle detail that makes it a little more special, and you know I still need to keep it interesting with my heels.

I feel like it's been awhile since I've done this yet I didn't feel like I had as many outfits as accumulated as usual. Guess it just comes and goes in waves! Have a great weekend! Can't wait to get back to normalcy next week!

What I wore: Packing remix

We got back from Montreal last night, so as I've been doing lately, I wanted to share what was in my suitcase and the outfit options I had in mind while I was packing. I definitely felt a little bit more organized than the last time I packed, which was to meet the nephew and the Gina! :) I think it was mainly because my suitcase was already packed, so it was just a matter of switching out clothes. But all my travel toiletries, jewelry, garment bags, electronics, etc., were already in their right place. It was also easier to choose outfits because I was able to bring my highly anticipated fall pieces vs. having to revert back to summer pieces that I had already mentally retired.

I brought a few new pieces with me that I've been dying to wear. The Zara scarf is just as wonderful as I expected it to be. It is BIG. I definitely felt like I was wearing a throw around my shoulders, but I like my scarves like I like my hair - GINORMOUS. These booties passed the comfort test. I knew they were great when I not only survived wearing them at the airport, which is a test in and of itself, but I had to stand in the longest customs line ever in Montreal and my feet were absolutely fine. And then as you read on Monday - I wore them walking around the city for six whole hours. I did have to retire them for dinner, but still!  The little break at dinner and I was able to wear them again the next day. And again today. That's awesome! As if I didn't love them enough already! And I'm soo very glad I decided to get this minus the leather moto jacket in a second color. My black one was on major repeat last year, and I know this oxblood one will get just as much, if not more, airtime. The fit is just perfect - and it's great for travel because it's not bulky (i.e. easy to pack) but still warmer than you would think for its weight.

OK, so all that being said - what did I actually wear?

Day 1: Travel day, casual dinner
Scarf: Zara | Earrings: Stella and DotJacket: Express | Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs | Top: Express | Leggings: Express | Booties: Hinge

Day 2: Sight seeing
(also seen here)
Jacket: Express | Necklace: Express | Top: Halogen | Bottoms: Delia's | Booties: Hinge

Day 3: Work reception
Jacket: Express | Scarf: Zara | Dress: Bailey 44Booties: Hinge

Day 3 (night): Tapas dinner
Jacket: Express |Top: J Crew FactoryBag: Marc by Marc Jacobs | Jeans: Delia's | Shoes: Steve Madden

Day 4: Travel home
Scarf: Zara | Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs | Top: Rubbish | Leggings: Express | Booties: Hinge

I ended up wearing everything except for my herringbone vest. It was a little bit too cool to just wear the vest, even during the day, and I knew it would be too warm for me to wear on the travel home - the scarf is way easier to fold and put away if I were to get hot on the plane. My booties and oxblood jacket proved to be the right choices for this trip - I love how they make every outfit a little more special! Pretty sad to head back to real life. However, St. Louis Fashion Week officially starts today which means I will have all sorts of goodies to share with you over the next week and a half! Told you October was going to be crazy for me!

Random Roundup

Happy Friday! Super excited because first thing tomorrow morning, I will be headed to see my nephew! Eeee! I've managed to accumulate a handful of random outfit photos to hopefully leave you inspired for the weekend. You can see my other random roundup posts here, and you can always follow me on Instagram for day to day updates! And, you know the drill by now - for the sake of time (and my sanity), I'm only linking to pieces that are still available. Lesgo!

Bag: Foley + Corinna | Top: BGBG | Bracelet: Gifted | Bottoms: Express | Sandals: Sam Edelman

This top is an oldie but a goodie. I love jersey tops and dresses by BCBG. So effortless and the prints are always saturated and so much fun. I also love the fit - it's fitted but forgiving and not constricting. Perfect with these ponte knit Express pants. And can we talk about my hair for a second? I've started to really embrace my second day hair (not to be confused with UPS 2nd day air) and allow dry shampoo (I use this) to be my best friend. I would always, and I mean ALWAYS throw second day hair up in a pony or a bun or other updo, but I've realized that, although time consuming, curling my second day hair produces the prettiest results sometimes!

Vest: JCrew Factory | Necklace: Stella and DotTop: from Amazon | Bottoms: Express | Shoes: Steve Madden

Ah, my favorite vest. I wore the top/vest combo here, for those of you who like to see an old school post. I could not, for the life of me, take a good outfit selfie this day. No joke, I took about one million photos from the top view looking down. These pants have a subtle railroad pinstripe that give the outfit a bit more dimension. And, not shown in this pic, is the same Foley + Corinna bag above. The husband caught me trying to take a "from where I stand" selfie in front of some flowers outside at work. Still unsuccessful. Definitely some #fashionbloggerproblems right there. Just for fun - I'm also wearing this baseball tee with my pajama pants while I was trying on my beloved Zara shoes I wore earlier this week:

I told Gina, the shoes kinda go with my jammies. Don't they?! (Pajama pants are last season Old Navy, btw.)

Top: ExpressBottoms: American Eagle | Shoes: Steve Madden

Guys, it's really hard not to wear this top every single day. The outfit with this top plus my scuba leggings (here) is seriously one of my favorite outfits on the blog to date. This was a quick weekend breakfast date with the husband. I know I will be grabbing this top plus leggings plus riding boots as the weather continues to get cooler. #sorrtimnotsorry

Necklace: ExpressTop: ExpressBracelet: ExpressBottoms: Express | Shoes: Via Spiga

Speaking of hair - I got a lot of compliments this day on my hair - that it was super fancy and I was ready for homecoming. (OK, maybe some of those comments weren't actually compliments.) I really didn't mean for it to be fancy, I just threw it up because I didn't really have time to do it, and just haphazardly started pinning it. It's nice to know that I can camouflage laziness with an updo!

I wasn't sure how much I was going to like this top because it's more sheer than my other portofinos, but honestly, it didn't bother me. I did, as you can see, wear a grey cami under it, but it wasn't obnoxiously noticeable (and if we're being honest, I used the shelf bra as my real bra that day….so it was extra comfortable.) One of the perks to being smaller chested :)

Glasses: Rough Justice | Necklace: Stella and Dot | Top: BCBG | Bottoms: ZellaShoes: Express

Another easy weekend look for you. We were out and about running errands, and this was the first time I took my black slip ons out for a spin. So far, no regrets buying these bad boys, especially with the $22 price tag! And this is another BCBG top - guess I didn't realize how many of these I had in my closet. But they're really great - this one is easily 2-3 years old, but something that will be in my closet until it breaks. Effortless tops like these are staples for me.

Jacket: JCrew FactoryNecklace: Stella and Dot | Dress: Free People | Shoes: Sam Edelman

Two other things on repeat here - my denim jacket and my Rebel pendant necklace. The fit on this jacket is just the best! Some denim jackets are boxy - and I'm just so in love with this one. Every time I wear it, I am thankful I bought it. Same thing with this necklace. I had avoided it for the longest time, but now that I have it, I can't not wear it. It provides just the perfect amount of bling. This dress you have seen two other times - awkwardly here and winterized here. Definitely one of my favorite dresses in my collection because it has so much layering potential.

Necklace: Express | Top: LOFT | Bracelet: Natasha Couture | Skirt: ExpressShoes: Express

Yep, all my favorites are in this post today! I la-la-love this skirt! I can't be too mad at Rachelle for enabling me to buy it, nor can I be mad at her that I ordered it in grey, too! It's so comfy and effortless, but still interesting and fun! Adding my black slip ons to complete this black and white look was perfect for dinner at a local bar with the husband!

Necklace: Express | Top: Express | Skirt: Gap | Sandals: Sam Edelman

And last but not least is this outfit styled with one of my four Barcelona camis. Funny how the weather has turned in such a short amount of time! It was ridiculously hot this day, and I really just needed to not be sweaty. This was so lightweight and perfect. Little did I know, within a couple weeks, I'd be wearing layers! Woo!

And that's all I got for you today, folks! Still amazes me how fast these random outfits add up, but thanks for letting me dump them off on you! Now time to go squish my nephew!!
