Hello Monday: Hot and cold

Gap scoop back romper, chuck taylors
Outfit details--- Sunnies: TOMS | Necklace: Target (super old) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (under $100!) | Romper: Gap (I just ordered the teal version!) | Plaid top: Express (option, option) | Shoes: Converse ---

It was exactly one thousand degrees when we took these photos. Ok, maybe it was only 96 but with one thousand percent humidity! Rompers are so perfect for the summer. I'm a serious fan. They're lightweight and effortless and not super clingy or constricting when you're sweating buckets! But, unless I know I am going to be outside all day, inevitably I am cold indoors, or at least chilly and need some kind of cover up. That's where my millions of plaid shirts come in handy over the summer!

I posted two versions of this outfit as a flat lay on Instagram here and then on Facebook here. I couldn't decide which I liked better so I polled my behind the scenes panel, and of course the votes were evenly split. I decided to just post both of them on the different social media platforms because I couldn't make up my mind! Apparently I am hot and cold with my decision making as well!

I ended up choosing my grey Converse to wear with the outfit instead of the white pair shown in my flat lays. I don't know why it's so hard for me to wear my white Converse. I think that's why I didn't buy any other pairs for such a long time because I hardly ever wore the one pair that I did have. I've realized now that it's the white color that bothered me, not the actual style. The white just stands out a bit, and while I'm all for color pop, I always feel like they throw my outfit off balance. Ah well. I'll keep trying. In the meantime, I'm very happy with this grey pair!

This weekend was such a blur! We had quite a long day on Saturday. The husband's car club had their annual charity car show on Saturday of which I am the official scoring secretary. What does that mean, you ask? Well, everyone who enters the show has to fill out the paperwork with their name, contact info, make and model of their car and what car class they're entering. It's my job to enter all of that into a nifty little spreadsheet on the computer. Then all of the cars have scoring sheets and they get numeric scores on things like paint, motor, interior, etc. So once the judging is all over, they hand over all the scoring sheets to me to enter next to the corresponding car. Then, I take some totals and do some sorting to figure out who has the highest points in each class to determine the winners. There were 150 cars/bikes that entered with 35 classes plus 11 specialty awards. Needless to say, I was busy! Registration opened at 8am and I was glued to the laptop from that time up until 3pm. The show raised (unofficially) $12,000 for the MDA, and it was the biggest show of the 4 years it's been around. I can't complain about my efforts, it feels good to be able to contribute in my own little way!

The little man in the pink on the right is Matthew.
He has muscular dystrophy and the car show is held in his honor every year.
He and his friend are posing with the owner who took home the "Best in Show" award.

Outside of that, we literally slept for 12 hours Saturday night and woke up super late on Sunday, taking our time to get going. I'm so happy to be home and not traveling this week. I'm looking forward to getting back into my routine!

With that, I shall let you go! Happiest of Mondays!

  1. I like your grey Converse with this outfit! :) I have a pair of white Converse and I wear them often, but definitely not as much as my black pair.

They are a bit scuffed and less than perfect white now which helps them blend into outfits better, haha!

Thank you for the link up!

  15. This looks like the perfect hot-weather outfit--I love that lightweight romper! Great idea to tie the plaid around your waist too; I always get cold inside, so I usually need an extra layer with me!
