Floral off the shoulder dress

The Mint Julep Boutique dress review

I always love collaborating with The Mint Julep Boutique because they have the cutest pieces! I was sifting through their new releases and this dress immediately caught my eye. It screams "vacation" and I'm totally vacation-mode focused at the moment! The colors are so fun, and admittedly, I don't have enough of this shade of green in my closet. The high-low hem is so dramatic, and you know I am all about drama when it comes to my outfits! The fact that it's off-the-shoulder just sealed the deal for me. Such a beautiful dress!

Outfit details--- Sunnies: Ray BanEarrings: SugarFix by BaubleBar (c/o) | Dress: The Mint Julep Boutique (c/o) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (other colors w/out studs here and here, cognac bag option here) | Smart Watch: Michael Kors "Sofie" (30% off!) | Espadrilles: Steve Madden (options here, here---

I am 5'-2" and wearing these espadrilles, the dress was the perfect length on me. Barefoot, the dress does touch the ground, so I really can't wear flat sandals with this. I like the silhouette better anyway with a wedge or a heeled shoe.

Let's talk about these earrings for a second! I have a couple of other pairs of tassel earrings, but these are my favorite because a) they are super lightweight and b) they hook into my ear vs. the kind of earring that requires a back to keep them in. I'm so lazy. The easier I can get things on and off, the better! The blush color was the perfect complement to the dress!

I have had this bag for just under four years, can you believe it?! You can see when it originally debuted on the blog here. I dusted it off this week because I was traveling and it was the perfect size for all my travel necessities, while still being small enough to tuck into my carry-on bag. I was THISCLOSE to getting rid of it when I went through my recent closet purge, but after using it for a full week, I'm glad I gave it a second chance.

Although I do definitely plan to take this dress with me when we are on vacation next week, I wanted to make sure I got proper photos of it so I wore it to a brunch/ blog photo meet up with Jenna. Yes, it's ironic that we decided to end the linkup but then meet the week after the linkup ends to take turns shooting outfit photos for the blog together. Ha! That just proves that we are both still into the blogging thing, promise!

Jenna read great reviews about Milque Toast Bar on Yelp and suggested it along with a few other potential brunch spots. I loved the concept and hello truffles! The food was amazing. My truffle egg salad toast is shown below. Jenna's was topped with chorizo and then we split a s'mores toast. It was all very, very good! That said, the indoor seating was extremely limited. There is only about a dozen or so seats at a long and skinny community table. There is also a very shallow counter with 4 seats to it, where Jenna and I sat first because the community table was full. If it weren't (literally) 100 degrees outside, we would have definitely sat on the patio instead. Luckily, some people left before we got our food, so we were able to move to the table, though you can see in the photo below that the table was barely wide enough for two plates to be placed across from each other. I had to sit at an angle so as not to bump Jenna's legs under the table!

Service was a bit slow considering it was all toast. And the system was a little confusing as well. A young kid (guessing 12 years old?) was the cashier who took our order, we didn't get a number, nor did we give a name, so we weren't sure if we had to go back to the counter to get our food or if they would deliver it to us? Jenna saw what looked to be our food at the counter, so she walked up to ask if it was ours and quickly got shooed and scolded (legit doing the "shoo, get away" hand motion) by the associate behind the counter (it wasn't the kid, it was an adult.) He later apologized for yelling saying he wasn't serious about it, but it was a pretty awkward exchange especially since he did it in front of a line of customers waiting to order.

I never got my coffee I ordered, which I know, I should have said something. But I wasn't sure if it was just the slow service or if they forgot, and when I realized they just forgot, it was too late because I prefer to drink my coffee BEFORE I eat, not during. Was I supposed to get a coffee cup when we ordered at the counter? I'm not sure. I guess I know to ask for it next time, though after Jenna got scolded, I didn't really want to ask any questions.

All of that said, the food really was quite delicious. I would probably only go back though if the weather was nice enough to sit outside because it was very claustrophobic for me inside. I'm all about hole-in-the-wall restaurants, but this was a bit too awkward feeling for me. Hopefully it was just an off day because, like I said, their reviews were nothing but positive! But, if you want my honest opinion about our brunch, there you have it!

The Mint Julep Boutique On the Dance Floor dress

Sorry to hijack this post with a restaurant review!! Back to the dress - I would definitely recommend it. I did wear a slip underneath because I was worried it might be see-thru in the bright daylight. I wear slips under all my dresses though, so that's not uncommon. The description says the dress has no amount of stretch, but I wouldn't say that's true because it does definitely have some give to it. Regardless, it's made of a jersey-type material that feels very nicely made, especially for a dress that's under $50! Speaking of which, if you sign up for their emails on their website, you can get $10 off your first order making the dress a whopping $36! Happy shopping!

  2. What a fun dress and you're right - it really does have vacation written all over it! Glad you will be getting to go on a real vacation soon! And meeting up with blogger friends is always fun...that's so frustrating about the service though!!

  5. Caryl! That dress - it's freakin' gorgeous! I love the print and silhouette. And don't get me started on those wedges! They are perfect for Summer. I just got some espadrilles that I'm sharing tomorrow, but they are flat and now I want some wedges!
