What's up Wednesday

It's the last Wednesday of the month which means it's time to link up with MelShay, and Sheaffer for What's up Wednesday. I won't answer all the questions for the sake of time, but just the ones that I think are the most interesting for July! Let's get started!

What I'm reminiscing about:
Last week was a really emotional week for me! One of my good friends and co-workers at the office had his last day on Friday, so we had his going away party on Wednesday. He's worked there almost as long as I have - I think I have him beat by about a month or so. Anyway, we pulled together a great going away gift for him and sent him off with a nice happy hour party. But, of course, I was a big bawl bag. We printed out 12 pictures of him - basically one photo for every year he has worked there, and showcased them at his happy hour. Looking back at them, it's crazy how you really grow up with your coworkers. You see them more than your family! They become your family! He is a good human. It is beyond sad to see him go.

What I'm loving:
I have grown a small collection of these off the shoulder tees. You can see one here and here (in camo), and then obviously the one in this post in white. Long sleeve, short sleeve, 3/4 length sleeve. They're all good! I love that you can dress them up or dress them down.  I will wear them to work, then throw on leggings and wear them to teach. They're an easy, relaxed fit, but they make me feel sassy, which I love. I just received an online order with three more - a two tone, a burgundy, and a grey. I'm obsessed. I can't help it.

What I'm been up to:
Well, aside from wishing our co-worker off to his new adventures, another co-worker was celebrating his 40th birthday. We had these tee shirts made with a sketch of his face on it - drawn up by a co-worker! Everyone wrote in their favorite saying of his and wore them to the going away party. (It was a dual purpose celebration!) He was totally surprised.

I also had to travel again for the first time in a few weeks. A quick trip to San Diego. And when I say quick, I mean quick. It was less than 24 hours. But it was productive and I got to spend time with some of my favorite work peeps enjoying a crap ton of sushi.

Also - one of the instructors at the studio just got married, so before the big day, we had a couple of showers for her - one thrown by the clients and one thrown by the studio. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend the studio party, but this is a photo of the happy hour the clients threw her. We have the best clients!

And I would be remiss to not mention the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale because let's be real, that's taken up a big chunk of my time in July! Every year during the sale, I treat myself to a new pair of Zella leggings. Unfortunately, this exact pair seems to be popular because there are only extremely limited sizes left. I do love them. The mesh and dot details. The length is also perfect on my short legs.

What I'm working on:
Well, aside from everything already mentioned above (!!!), I have a couple of collaborations this week. One is in honor of National Blowout Day on Saturday the 28th and the other is a small collaboration with a couple of other bloggers about fall basics which will be live on Friday! Speaking of fall, CS Gems will be launching their new fall arrivals next month as well, so I have a couple of things up my sleeve with them. You know they're my favorite.

What I'm looking forward to next month:
My mom just celebrated her 70th birthday. My sister and parents along with a big group of close friends and family all went to Hawaii to celebrate! Unfortunately, I was unable to go because we couldn't take a whole week off, and Hawaii isn't really a feasible weekend/long weekend trip coming from the midwest! I knew my brother wouldn't be able to make it either, and I didn't want him to feel left out. So, we will be going to Galveston towards the end of August, as a belated celebration of her birthday with our immediate family. It's close enough for my brother to drive to, and it will be great to all be together! I will get to fit in some more sun time, too, which I'm excited about!

What I'm watching/reading:
Watching: I started watching "Life Sentence" on Netflix while I work out. It stars Lucy Hale who played Aria in Pretty Little Liars. So far it's been great! It almost reminds me a bit of Modern Family meets Malcolm in the Middle. I know that's a weird analogy... But I just love Lucy Hale. We would be besties in real life.

Reading: I'm finishing up a 3-book series by Kristan Higgins. I LOVED the 5-book "Blue Heron" series and started the 3-book "Gideon's Cove" series right after. Admittedly, it took a really long time to get through book #2. Granted, I usually only read on planes, but it didn't get super interesting to me until the last few chapters of the book. I loved book #1 though, and now I'm on book #3 and it may be my favorite in the series. I'm flying through this one!

What I'm listening to:
Just like everyone, I have Drake's "In My Feelings" on repeat. Sorry not sorry!

When we drove to Michigan, home from Wisconsin, and then back and forth to Chicago for a day trip recently, we had the GREAT idea of listening to audiobooks to pass the time! We started the Joe Dillard series by Scott Pratt. We have finished 3 of the 9 books so far. It's the perfect mix of things I like and things the husband likes. Mystery, suspense, law and order type stuff, but not being super dark. Makes me want to take another roadtrip so we can listen to another book!

What else is new:
I think that's about it actually! Not that all of the above isn't already enough going on! I knew July would be a crazy month, and it's definitely proven to be the case. I'm ready to start fresh in August!

    1. I would say PG13! Definitely not R. Maybe a soft R because there can be some graphic scenes, but as far as other stuff, it’s not too bad!
