Substance

I had debated on adding a denim jacket to my capsule because I wasn't sure how much use I would really get out of it in the winter. I tend to reach for it a ton more in the spring and summer. I'm glad I added it, because it's the perfect wind blocker when layered over a sweater. I've seen a few people ask over the last decade or so if denim jackets are still "in." I honestly can't remember a time when I did NOT have a denim jacket in my closet. And this one is by far my all time favorite.

It's already over a month into the year, but I still feel like 2015 has just begun, and I keep thinking about ways I want to to continue to grow this blog. One thing I've thought about is improving the content. I typically just share 3-5 OOTD photos with some light and airy discussion about why I paired things the way I did, or what I love about the pieces. But I never really talk about ME. A part of me wants to share more with you, but then a part of me wonders how many of my readers actually read what I write anyway? But perhaps if I wrote with more substance, you all would be interested in hanging out a little longer to read what I had to say. At the end of the day, it's pretty hard to think that anyone outside of your real life friends and family would be interested in what's truly going on in my head! But if you really DON'T read what I write anyway, then I have nothing to lose, right? :)

  2. Well now I'm very curious what it is you want to share with us that you're holding back on, so now you HAVE to share! I know I overshare on some subjects (e.g. photobooks) that are going to be boring to some people, but you can't please everyone all the time. For the one person who is bored, another person is fascinated, so you might as well make yourself happy and let the rest fall in line! Oh, and thanks for reminding me to wear that skirt again! I forget that I have it!

  3. Well, girlfriend, I read what you write and heck yeah, I'm interested to read about anything you feel like sharing! Blogs for me are kinda like a reality TV show, or looking into peoples windows when you drive by (I swear I'm not creepy!)...so I say, do what feel right for you!! I think you're a rock star for posting 5 days a week and I think Blogs evolve/change over time...if you're feeling a change in the air, go with it - you can always revert back ;-) Ok, let's talk this skirt...it comes in patterns now too??!! Gonna have to check that out! Glad to see your light denim jacket today...I was just thinking I wanted to add one to the closet this year (thanks to you)!!

  7. Every time you wear this skirt I fall in love with it, the draping is so perfect. I may have to just take the plunge already! The denim jacket is in antique sanded blue right? I'm assuming it's not the dark wash.

  10. LOL, I often wonder if people are actually reading my blog posts too! I think that's why so many bloggers just put up pictures and just a few blurbs about what they have on. I just talked about this on my blog! I love getting a little more personal ;)

Love the styling here Caryl. I really NEED a denim jacket. Need status. I've been looking for years, and can't seem to find one that fits me well.

  11. You are too funny! I think it's a balance. If you are writing like a book than people get turned off. I think it's fun to get to know the people behind the blog because most time it's not what you expect. I agree with you about a denim jacket, I always have one in my closet too.

  12. I always read the posts, not only look to the photos. Getting more personal is good, otherwise people may thing get dressing it's the only thing you care about.
I check your blog almost everyday and I'd love to know you better!

  14. I love that you are thinking about adding more YOU to your blog - I always read blogs as well as drinking in the pretty pictures - I've discovered some blogs that I go back to time and time again, not necessarily for the pictures, but for their writing or their personality. Look forward to getting a bit more Caryl, and that denim jacket is a really great one - I usually layer mine under my leather jacket (soooo old school!) xxx
