Polka dot sequins and hobo plaid

Coat: Express | Sequin top: J Crew | Portofino top: Express (in wild orchid) | Bracelet: Express | Ring: Forever 21 (love this!) | Pants: Express (option) | Boots: MICHAEL Michael Kors

Is anyone else under a winter advisory right now? I feel like anytime they over-hype storms, nothing ends up ever happening. We did have some sleet this morning which turned our already long 40-minute commute into an hour and 20 minutes, but otherwise it's been dry and cold. Ridiculously cold. So, to keep my spirits up while we wait to get snowed in, I decided to don this lovely sequin top. Considering the amount of clothes I own, this shirt gets a lot of use. Clearly I like to pair it with wine.

I'll be honest though because I built the outfit first with this coat. I knew I wanted to wear it today - it was a Black Friday week purchase and I ordered it after seeing it here at On the Daily Express. I didn't realize until I saw it in person that the black knit peeking out is physically part of the coat, and comes with thumbholes! This sleeve detail definitely gives it a hobo chic vibe - but it makes it unique. Plus the scale of this plaid - perfect. OK, so as I was saying, I wanted to wear the jacket. I was reaching for leggings and cognac boots, but I feel like I've been overdoing the leggings lately, so I grabbed these khaki skinnies instead. That's when I decided on the sequins and black boots (flat boots because of the snow) and I struggled with what shirt to wear as my under layer! #fashionbloggerproblems :) I remembered the wine portofino that I wore in Atlanta but have NOT worn to the office yet - perfect! Especially with this coat! Ahhh, I love when outfits just come together perfectly. The best thing about this outfit is that everything (aside from the coat, duh) is fitted but nothing is *tight*. Those are the best kinds of outfits - it makes me feel skinny and comfortable in my own body.

    1. I always lean towards wine when styling black and white. Sometimes I think I overdo it, but it's just such a natural combo! Thanks for the comment!

    1. Thank you so much! Sometimes I wonder if I'm going a bit overboard when I load too many of my favorites into one outfit. Thanks for validating that it's not always a bad thing!
