Manic Monday: Floral dress remix

Left: Original post here

Welcome to yet another Manic Monday! Hope you had a fantastic time celebrating Valentine's Day with your loved ones and gorging yourselves on sugar and sweets. If you follow me on Instagram, you'll see my chocolate shoe! How perfect for me, am I right?

One of my most favorite things to blog about and read about are remixes. I love finding new ways to wear old things and creating different looks with different pieces. I loved the brocade leggings collaboration on Friday because Jenna was so completely dressed up and I was exactly the opposite. I was almost embarrassed to post my look next to hers - kind of like being the most underdressed person at a party! But it just proves how versatile your pieces can be with just a little bit of tweaking and creativity.

A great part of remixing is wearing something differently - as in... it's a dress, but what would it look like as a skirt, or as a top? That's what I decided to do today. Even though my overall look is similar to when I originally wore this - winterizing the florals with black to ground the outfit - I tucked it into a skirt to re-purpose it as a top instead of a dress. Knee high boots and chunky jewelry help edge-ify the overall feel of the outfit, while my original look let the dress speak for its girly self.

Dress: J Crew Factory (option, option)  | Necklace: Express (option, option) | Skirt: Francesca's (option, option, option)   |  Bracelet: Tasha (option) | Bag: Kate Spade (option) | Tights: DKNY | Boots: Christian Louboutin

Your homework assignment this week is to wear an old piece in a new way! I would love to hear and/or see what you come up with, so please come back and share it with me! The possibilities are endless!

  2. I think I would be wearing those boots every single day of my life! They are gorgeous. I will have to show you one of my recent remixes. Once I wore my Convertible Sleeve Portofino Shirt with LONG sleeves for winter weather. And then on a warm day, I ROLLED the sleeves! VOILA!! REMIX!! :)

    1. Hahahahaha! Gosh I love you!
And these boots are basically case in point why you should never ever try things on unless you have intentions of buying them. because if you try them on "just for the heck of it" who is going to tell your heart that you can't have those butter soft boots that were made for your calves?! I certainly wasn't. Alas. They became mine. :)

  3. I would have never of thought of tucking a dress into a skirt to create a new look...fantastic idea! I'll sometimes throw a sweater over a dress leaving the bottom exposed as a skirt, but not the other way around...brilliant! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thank you! I'm so happy I landed this lil kate spade bag! It was a flash sale right after the Phillip Lim collection came out at Target. This bag reminded me of that collection, but well, I'm a Kate Spade addict so fell in love with this. And the color is unique and fun!

  19. I love the dress paired with the skirt and boots! I also really liked the brocade leggings from the last post...I've never bought any by HUE but they always do cute stuff. P.S. I know it's hard standing next to tall people...especially when they have on heels and u have on flats...lol

    1. I've only bought Hue tights and socks, but these were my first actual pair of leggings. I was actually quite pleased with them - I used to hate on them way back in the day. Guess I'm eating my words now!
Oh yes. I hate being the shorty next to long legs!!
      And thank you so much!!
