2016 blooper reel

This week is all about looking back on 2016! The good, the bad, and the awkward! You can see a roundup of my favorite outfits in Monday's post here. Today, I wanted to share with you all the reasons why fashion blogging is HARD. Ok, it's not really. But it is. Dressing up for no reason,  arguing with convincing the husband to take your photos, trying to decide on the photo location,  changing in the back seat of your car (I challenge you to put on a pair of Spanx leggings in the backseat of a sedan!!!), working around the sun's schedule, and don't *even* get me started on the wind!

I try and get 5 solid photos of my outfit - a couple of full body shots and some details. Yet, it usually takes a minimum of 20 tries to end up with 5 that are usable. That's honestly the biggest reason why I like to wear sunnies in photos! You can judge fashion bloggers for wearing sunnies all you want, but once you're the one in front of the camera, you realize just getting rid of the "closed eye" factor in your photos by hiding your eyes with sunnies can quadruple your options for usable photos! I'm just sayin!

This year, I made a conscious decision to save up some bloopers because it's nice to laugh at yourself once in awhile! Most importantly, blogging is not that serious, so let's have fun, shall we?

So, other than the fact that I look like I am playing an imaginary piano with my right hand, my bra is showing. You can't super tell because it's black, but if you look for it, you can see it peeking out at my left ta-ta. And the dress pulls a bit at my midsection in whatever pose this is that I am doing! The smirk on my face is kind of comical, at least I'm smizing?

In this photo, I am channeling my inner bird and trying to spread my wings and fly! If I close my eyes and imagine myself flying, I know I can get off the ground!

I guess this is the face I give the husband when I'm trying to.... uh I don't know what I am doing. I look surprised. And the settings on the camera were wrong, hence why the cars are in focus and not nice and blurry. Thank goodness we noticed before we were done taking photos! I've taken photos and come home not realizing that, and there's nothing you can do about it! I mean, you could redo the photos, but ain't nobody got time for that.

Oh I love it when your side-swept bangs have a mind of their own. I promise it's my real hair and not a toupee!

Ah yes, trying to get that partial tuck to look casual and effortless in between photos. I swear photo shoots are a constant barrage of adjusting and fidgeting....

....and then making sure your hair isn't in your mouth and that it is laying flat. Or no wait. Am I talking on my imaginary phone?

Maxi dresses are just one piece, what's there to adjust? Maybe I am hugging my invisible friend?

I think the husband was trying extra hard to torture me here. I was holding my leg straight out for what felt like one thousand years and he was taking his time snapping! I finally caved and had to drop my leg before I fell over!

I think I am caught mid sneeze here. Or maybe I'm shooting orders that he doesn't like so he retaliated by catching me in the act.

This is my best "whip my hair back and forth" move ever! I mean, why on earth is this such a dramatic move? Actually, now that I look closer at this, I could be throwing an imaginary bag of potatoes over my shoulder!

This one is my favorite though, hand down. The only time I love cloudy days is when it's time to take blog photos because you can literally take them ANYWHERE and not have to worry about harsh shadows. If I were a good blogger, I would learn to take them first thing in the morning, but in reality, photo taking normally happens around mid-day. I know, horrible. Anyway, on this particular day, it was partly cloudy and we almost made it through our shoot without the sun. But then the sun came out from behind the clouds and this is me giving it stank face. I was literally giving the sun stank face and the husband caught it. It doesn't get better than this!

  4. Hahahaha yes to all of this! It's crazy how many photos end up in the "oh crap" pile! I have so many! Love these though and blogging shouldn't all be so serious. Great post Caryl :)
