Friday repeats

A couple weeks ago, we were out for happy hour celebrating a co-worker's 30th birthday. As I was sitting there enjoying my Grey Goose cosmo, another co-worker was checking out my outfit and said, "You never repeat outfits." She's partially right. While I may not completely re-wear an outfit 100% from head to toe, I certainly re-wear individual pieces all the time. I just like to spread the love and mix and match pieces in my closet so to the naked eye, it appears like it's a brand new outfit yet I'm not wearing any new purchases. I decided to start a regular series on the blog called "Friday repeats" and share some of my remixing ideas. Let's get started!

Striped sleeve sweatshirt bomber jacket
LEFT: Previously worn HERE
RIGHT: Scarf: Old Navy | Jacket: Old Navy | Tee: Target | Bottoms: American Eagle | Booties: Sole Society

I love how different the jacket looks by just adding a vest! And now that I've styled this two ways with jeans, I need to wear it next time with a skirt or a dress. It's a really great layering piece and the black, white, and grey palette makes it pretty interchangeable with my two favorite colors right now - olive and berry.

Buffalo plaid top

RIGHT: Earrings: Stella and Dot | Buffalo plaid top: Express | Stripe top: JCrew Factory | Bottoms: ExpressBooties: Christian Louboutin

A lot of times remixing comes down to thinking about how something can act as an outer layer as well as an under layer or what other prints with which it can pair. And since I've worn the top untucked in both outfits, my next instinct would be to tuck this into a skirt or trading the jacket for a pullover sweater and just letting the hem and cuffs peek out.

Berry colored knit skirt: Previously worn HERE
RIGHT: Jacket: Express | Top: bp. | Necklace: Bauble BarSkirt: ExpressShoes: Tory Burch (limited colors and sizes)

I kept the color palettes similar in both of these outfits as well as the components - jacket layered over long sleeves with a necklace and pointy toe heels. But sometimes just trading solids for prints and long necklaces for more of a statement are all the tweaks you need to keep it feeling new.

Over the knee boots: Previously worn HERE
RIGHT: Cardigan: Charming Charlie (c/o) | Dress: Express | Boots: Dolce Vita (option here)

I love that these are two totally different outfits with totally different palettes, but the over the knee boots still work for both. Cognac is definitely a great neutral and I always feel like I can get a lot farther with the color in terms of pairings vs. more of a chocolate color.

Burgundy leggings: Previously worn HERE
RIGHT: Cardigan: Express | Cami: Express | Lace Extender: Grace and lace | Leggings: bp.Booties: Cole Haan

And last but not least are these awesome leggings. I can definitely do a lot more with these than I've depicted in these two outfits. If you want to take a trip down memory lane, I shared  13 outfits styling wine colored skinnies HERE. Yes, these are leggings, but you still get the idea in terms of color versatility!

And that's it! Hope you enjoyed this. It's helpful for me to see these outfits next to each other too for future planning!
