Random roundup

Happy Friday! Hope everyone had a great week! I have a semi full weekend ahead of me - blogging, Fast and the Furious, Easter, all that good stuff! And to kick off the festivities, I've got my random roundup ready to go for you, so let's get started!

Necklaces: Stella and Dot, CS Gems (c/o) | Top: Express | Bracelets: H&M (Gifted) | Bottoms: Express | Shoes: Calvin Klein

I was so excited to start wearing more spring-like pieces. I haven't worn this floral portofino in awhile, so it was easy to throw on. I have been all about dusting off my favorite pumps lately. I'm pretty sure my feet are happy to be in heels again verses boots, and I swear my bare feet in heels are always way more comfy than my bare feet in flats. How is that possible? I featured these pumps wayyy back in the day here. Wow - April of 2013! Two years ago! Just goes to show that when I buy something, I really do mean for it to be in my collection for years.

Earrings: Kate Spade | Blazer: The Limited | Top: JCrew Factory | Bottoms: Express | Shoes: Steve Madden (more sizes here)

I love my bangs, but it's definitely been interesting trying to do my normal hairstyles around them! This was my first top knot with bangs, ever! And I also forgot how much I loved my leopard slip ons. It's definitely the season for bare ankles! Woo!

Necklace: Kate Spade | Top: Express (similar to Spiced Purple or Bitter Grape) | Bracelets: H&M (Gifted) | Skirt: Express | Heels: Louise et Cie

To say I'm obsessed with these pumps would be an understatement. I am kind of sad they are not available in a whole rainbow of colors because I would buy them all. The shape and point and fit and everything about them are perfect. If you're looking for a blush pump - seriously, don't think twice about these.

Necklace: CS Gems (c/o (option) | Top: JCrew Factory | Bracelet: H&M (gifted) | Bottoms: Gap | Flats: JCrew Factory

This roundup is full of all my old favorites! I missed my camo pants so much during my capsule challenge! And I always have issues with flats being more uncomfortable than heels, but these flats are like butter - so soft and ridiculously comfortable. Another recommendation from me!

Necklaces: CS Gems (c/o) (option paired with option) Use code CARYLEE15 for 15% off! | Top: JCrew Factory | Bracelets: Stella and Dot, Nadri | Bottoms: Express | Flats: Ugg

I love curling my second day hair with bangs - this was a good hair day for me! I also love layering these necklaces. People often mistaken them for just one necklace since they really look like they were made as a set. They dress up a solid top nicely! And how adorable are the striped flats?!

That's it for the week! Have a great weekend and happy Easter!

The burgundy skirt

First of all! Thank you to everyone who entered the $650 EXPRESS Gift Card Giveaway! We are pleased to announce that Sarah L. is the winner! She was so super excited when we let her know, and word on the street is that she may end up with a Portofino in every color. Can't say I blame her!

Sunnies: Vince Camuto | Coat: Calvin Klein (option, budget option) | Necklace: Francesca's (option) | Bag: Michael Kors (option) | Top: Express (option) | Tights: DKNY (similar) | Skirt: Banana Republic | Heels: MICHAEL Michael Kors (option)

This skirt is yet another purchase instigated by Rachelle. I had been on the hunt for a burgundy skirt, which is no surprise considering I love all things this color, and a skirt was the one thing I hadn't had in my burgundy collection yet.

Tonight I'm going to a Holiday Happy Hour event at The Resale Shop hosted by Jill from Stilettos on Sunday Morning. I thought this was a great outfit to transition from work to a holiday happy hour --- rich burgundy is always a favorite holiday color palette of mine. And I'm extra excited to get to know this little thrift shop because it's totally out of my realm of expertise. I'll be sure to recap everything for ya!

The timeless fall combo

Sunnies: Gucci | Necklace: Stella and Dot | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (option) | Top: LOFT | Bracelets:  Stella and Dot, Forever 21 | Watch: Kate Spade (option) | Skirt: Calvin Klein (option, option) | Shoes: MICHAEL Michael Kors (option, option)

All these colors exude fall to me. OK, well, if I'm being honest, I can wear leopard year round. But when paired with rich burgundy and camel, it definitely feels very fall! This skirt and these shoes have been in my collection for multiple seasons - at least 5 years. I love when items are timeless like this, yet they are far from boring to me.

Holiday Style Link-Up: Holiday Traditions

Holiday Traditions

Coat: Calvin Klein (option, option, ) | Sweater: Express | Scarf: The Glittered Owl | Sunnies: Tom Ford | Earrings: Kate Spade (option) | Stacking rings: Forever 21 (option), Kate Spade Saturday (option) | Bag: Chicastic | Pants: Express (option) | Boots: DVF

Welcome to Week 4 of the Holiday Style Series! This week, On the Daily Express and I wanted to focus on Holiday Traditions! We are lucky that we get to spend Christmas with both our families even though my family is out of state, much less out of our time zone! I thought I'd share what each side does to celebrate!

The in laws: One Saturday in December (in this case it was this past Saturday, the 21st), all the men wake up early to male bond visit Piekutowski's and pick up packages of Krakow style sausage for each household. According to Pope John Paul II, it will rock your world. Afterwards, they swing by Amighetti's and grab Italian style subs, which we all devour at Grandpa's house. This year, they also made a pit stop at Viviano's for wine miscellaneous Italian market groceries. I've always enjoyed this tradition - just hanging out at Grandpa's for a standing lunch date every year! So fun and ridiculously delicious. It's also pretty amazing to see the family grow as the cousins get married and have kids.

For Christmas, we are usually at his parents house by 8-9am for a Christmas cookie breakfast! Afterwards we go around in a circle, ooh-ing and ahh-ing as we take turns opening presents. Then we usually veg out, play with our new toys, and/or hit up some stores and start spending our Christmas money! We may or may not end up celebrating on actual Christmas day; it usually just ends up being the day we are all available. This year we celebrated yesterday (the 22nd) as today we are on our way to see my family as we speak!

I can't forget about breakfast with Santa. This usually happens on one Sunday in December, and this year it was yesterday. So, our day started with Santa Breakfast instead of our Christmas cookie breakfast, then we had immediately family gift opening, then in the afternoon we also celebrated with the extended family! With Amighetti's on Saturday, too, it was quite an eventful weekend, to say the least!

This was the outfit I chose to wear for the full day of celebrations yesterday. It's easy - just a sweatshirt and skinnies, but the quilted faux leather front of the sweatshirt definitely kicks it up a notch, and the scarf and boots make it cozy and festive for me.

My family: I'm not sure I've mentioned this before, but my dad is a pastor of a non-denominational church in Southern California. So, even though I grew up in San Antonio, and consider Texas my "home," we always end up doing holidays in SoCal because a) my dad has to be there for church service and b) my extended family is also in SoCal. His church service is usually at night on Christmas Eve. He has a candle light service where he says a short message, then we take communion and sing Christmas Carols by candle light! We stuff ourselves with food then head back to either my dad's or my sister's to open all our gifts! It's usually a late night, but it's always worth the lack of sleep!

Before I go, I just wanted to talk about how fabulous this scarf is! It's a hand made infinity scarf - I have it looped around my neck 3 times. It falls beautifully and the color is absolutely gorgeous! One of my friends makes these over at The Glittered Owl. If you love this one as much as I do, I urge you to have one made for yourself! She also takes custom orders, so really, the possibilities are endless! (I am not being compensated for this shout out, I truly am just a happy customer, and the fact that she's a friend makes it doubly sweeter to be able to promote her work!)
