You've seen this dress already a couple months ago in this post HERE. I normally like to remix things if I end up wearing something on the blog so soon, but as you can see, I kept the formula the same. That's certainly ok to do in my book, especially when different audiences are going to be seeing you. I still wanted to get proper photos of this look though because a) this is the very first time I have done a fishtail braid and b) these sandals needed photos on the real camera.
So here's the thing. I fought the off the shoulder and cold shoulder trends as much as possible. And then I reached a breaking point and now there's no turning back. But I just fell in love with the dress because a) I love a good shirt dress b) I love stripes and c) the off the shoulder look gives a classic piece an interesting twist. I was so happy to get it and try it on and see that it looked as adorable on as I pictured and hoped it would be!
I'm actually on the road again for work, but the Spotlight Weekly linkup theme this week hosted by Elle and Jacquelineis "Sequins and Sparkle" and I really wanted to participate. Remember this skirt from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale? No? Let's refresh your memory.
I always like to see how I styled things last, so for the sake of comparison, I pulled this out of my archives. Not a completely different night and day transformation between the two looks, but I did decide to make this a little more work to holiday happy hour friendly with my styling today.
Since I hadn't worn this skirt since the summer, I was excited to style it a little bit differently for the current season. I almost reached for my black portofino instead, but at the last second, decided to pick up the blues in the skirt with this cobalt one. My new clutch was the perfect finishing piece. The arm strap is actually quite convenient, and it visually looks stunning as well. When I saw that it was marked from its already low price of $16.90 down to $11.24, I started trying to think of anyone and everyone I could order this for! It's a great piece at an unbeatable price. (That's code for: BUY ALL OF THEM.)
The $650 EXPRESS Gift Card giveaway runs until Monday!
This is the sequin skirt I was raving about in yesterday's Anniversary Sale recap. Seriously, isn't it gorgeous? I could have easily dressed this up to be more evening ready, but I decided to tone it down a bit with the stripe tee so I could wear this to work. (Yes, I can pretty much get away with anything at work.)
The faux leather waistband makes it even that more special - as if a sequin skirt needed another way to be special! And this is one of those pieces that definitely needed to be seen in person because I didn't like it at all on the model. I did size up in it just because form fitting pieces tend to fit better on my hips when I size up. And I think the length is still pretty good on my 5'-2" frame.
