On Saturday, I got to meet up with Jenna for a late lunch! It was nice because I feel like we haven't gotten to see each other in forever! She found this adorable place called Revel on Yelp, and it definitely did not disappoint! Oddly enough, it was in the 90's but it still felt comfortable in the shade, so we got to enjoy lunch on the patio!
If you read my guest post on Kate's blog a few weeks ago, you'll know that I have a pretty big girl crush on Style Me Tactical. She's so edgy and fierce and we share a mutual love for shoes. She has this pair of Tribute sandals (that I now wish I had, BTW) and it made me realize that I never wear mine with jeans! What the heck? Each time I have worn them (here and here) on the blog, they've been with a dress or skirt. Whenever I think of doing heels with jeans, I always reach for one of the many pair of pointy toed shoes in my collection. After after seeing Style Me Tactical's Instagram post, I've realized it's a shame to not wear my Tributes with jeans!
Oh my goodness, guys! Sorry for the radio silence today! I only had my Monday and Tuesday posts pre-written over the weekend, and when it came time to try and write this post last night, it was not happening. Needless to say the birthday festivities were a success, but it was probably just a wee bit much wine for a Tuesday evening, and I was dragging this morning! All I have on my agenda after I write this post is curling up in my chair and napping! I will have to share all the remaining details about my birthday celebrations (including gifts!) in another post!

When I saw this portofino as I was browsing the Express website, I added it to my cart immediately. It's striped. It's got navy in it. And basically those two reasons are enough. I wanted to style it two ways for you - one a little bit more dressy with the floral lace pencil skirt, and a second look with some distressed denim shorts and flat sandals.
Clearly I love pairing this top with white - it feels more summery when paired with something white or ivory! It will be a great piece in the fall with my quilted ivory vest! Oh! Excited thinking of it!
Alright, that's all the writing I can manage tonight! I promise I will catch up on life here soon! Thanks for all of the sweet birthday wishes! You guys really made my day!!
1. Leopard sneakers: Guys. I just can't get these leopard slip ons out of my head? Why?? I do love everything leopard, and I have just about any kind of leopard shoe you can imagine… except for a good sneaker. I feel like I'm seeing these everywhere lately - or at least they are haunting me wherever I go. I love that you can grab a trench and throw these on for an effortless spring outfit to run around in.
2. D'orsay flats: I don't wear flats too much, and I've been actually trying to curb my craving for regular flats, because of the fact that they go unworn the most in my collection. But, I've been really wanting to try the d'orsay flat lately. It gives a much different silhouette than the standard round toe flat I own so many of, making them easier to pair with dresses or skirts. And the cut out sides make them a little more flirty and feminine.
3. Ankle straps: Honestly, I think Zara does the best job with their ankle strap sandals. Every time I see them on someone, I just love them - or, I end up seeing an ankle strap I love and they always end up being from Zara. I just need to order some already. They're a great finishing touch to any outfit, and I love that even with the minimalist design - they still make a big impact on the overall look. I also love the idea of looking for more of a thicker, stacked heel for better walkability.
4. Stripes: There's something so springy and nautical about striped shoes that makes me so happy! I obviously love donning stripes - I think it would be easy to style these babies since stripes always end up being a great neutral to pattern mix with.
