I woke up like this

Sunnies: Oakley (option) | Top: MOD (local boutique, see Instagram here) (option) | Bracelets: Random handful from my collection | Watch: D&G (option) | Bottoms: BlankNYC (optionoption, option) | Shoes: Manolo Blahnik (budget option)

There's this little boutique right next door to my Pilates studio. I've been following them on Instagram, and it reminds me a lot of a Francesca's. I've been wanting to go in and take a look around, but it's normally closed just the way the business hours work out compared to my class times. One evening, I was leaving class at 7:30 - they're usually closed by 6 or so - and they were still open! I wandered in and found this tee.

Apparently these are lyrics to a Beyonce song, Flawless. I had no idea. I liked it because it's ridiculously ironic. Because it takes effort to look like this, sadly. How awesome would it be  to roll out of bed with non-bed head curly hair and accessorized!? Sigh. There should be an app for that.

I keep forgetting

Sunnies: Oakley (option) | Top: Kate Spade (option, option) | Bracelet: Express | Bag: Michael Kors (budget option) | Skirt: Forever 21 (option, option)   | Shoes: Enzo Angiolini (option)

There's no big frills to this outfit, right? Just a pencil skirt, a sleeveless top, a bracelet, and heels. But, I do believe it's all in the details though - a fun print, a touch of ruffles, a contrasting bag, and the cute little bow on the shoes. And really, I always forget how much I love pencil skirts until I put them on again. And I also forget that sometimes no big frills is a good thing!

My first Loubies

Sunnies: Oakley (option) | Bracelet: Can't remember! | Bag: Kate Spade (optionfunky option) | Dress: Express (option, option, option, splurge)   | Wedges: Christian Louboutin (option, budget option)

Ahh, I remember it like it was yesterday. I was sitting downstairs in the basement, surfing the internet and I came across these sandals on a website called Roanshop.com. A friend of mine had been to this store in person, so although I had never heard of it before, I knew it was reputable. They had these beauties on sale for at least 50% off their retail price.
Christian Louboutin I Love – Roan
I loved the shape of the wedge, and well, I'm a sucker for anything patent. I had never bought a pair of Christian Louboutins before, and couldn't believe I was about to order my first pair. They only took orders over the phone, which was good because then I could talk through sizing with her. I'm so all over the place with sizing for Louboutins. (If you missed my post from back in the day about Louboutins, you can read it here.) She suggested I size up, and I'm glad I listened because they fit perfect.

I was excited to reach for them again today to pair with this dress. (First seen here.) Once I had the dress and the wedges on, I literally said out loud, "I feel like I need a basket." For some reason I felt picnic ready in this! I looked up and saw this bag on a shelf, and then said out loud (yes I talk to myself a lot), "Speaking of a basket!…" And voila! The outfit was complete.

Trend Spin Linkup: Bold Fashion

I'm so excited to be co-hosting the Trend Spin Linkup with Erin and Laura! I've been linking up with them for as long as I can remember, so it's quite a milestone for me to be on this side of the table. Today's trend is bold looks, and nothing says "bold" quite like a onesie can.

Well, I wasn't sure if I could pull off a romper/jumpsuit for anywhere other than the beach, as you saw in yesterday's post. And if you follow me on Instagram, you saw that I sported a chambray romper for a rainy BBQ. I bought that romper as well for Jamaica, and didn't have one yet for "real life" wear. I tried this one from Express, and unfortunately, it was horrendous on me. I'm too high waisted for it, so it went back faster than I could say "return." I was pretty bummed because it looked awesome on Gina in the "Bright Salmon" color here, but sadly did not work for me. During Express' last 40% off sale, I decided to try just a plain black jumpsuit to see how I felt.

There is a snap closure at the top, and it slips easily on and off. I wore this for a date night with the husband over the weekend - dinner and drinks. The bathroom situation wasn't awful; although I could see how after more and more cocktails that the task of getting dressed and undressed could be precarious.

I decided to let the jumpsuit speak for itself for the most part, though I did pair it with bolder accessories in keeping with today's trend spin. I was very flattered because the three ladies that greeted us at the restaurant were gushing over my outfit, and that was great validation for me. Compliments from strangers are the best, no?

What about you? Are you rocking the onesies? Or if not, what other bold look are you experimenting with?

Manic Monday: Kicking off summer

Memorial Day Purchases

Since Memorial Day is the official kickoff to summer, I decided to put together a mini shopping list of summer must haves and share one of my beach looks.

Sunnies: Oakley (similar) | Romper: Target | Bandeau bikini top: Target | Bag: DVF (option) | Sandals: Sam Edelman

I haven't owned a onesie in years! Definitely sooner than my infant years - maybe late 90s, early 2000s? Rompers and jumpsuits are everywhere nowadays, they're kind of unavoidable. My main beef with them is the convenience factor, or lack thereof, specifically in the ladies' room. For the beach - they're great. I bought this - which I actually found in the sleepwear section at Target - and wore it in Jamaica as a cover up. It's ridiculously soft and comfy, perfect after laying out all day in the sun.

Thanks to all who have served our country or have sacrificed your loved ones so they can serve - both roles are hard, to say the least, and I admire those that can do this. Hope you'll link up with us and/or leave us a comment about how you're spending your Memorial Day weekend!

Bookends

Left: Atlantic-Pacific here | Right: Atlantic-Pacific here

Well, I unintentionally bookended my week of outfits with inspiration from Atlantic-Pacific. To be honest, I had no idea my Monday inspiration was her! I texted this pic to Gina and asked if she knew who the blogger was, and luckily she did! In my defense, I didn't recognize Blaire sans sunnies and actually showing her teeth! Perhaps 3 years from now, I will have a similar transformation...

Sunnies: Gucci | Top: Piperlime (similaroption, option, option)  | Bracelet: Kate Spade (option) | Bag: Ralph Lauren (option) | Bottoms: 7 for all Mankind (option)  | Shoes: Enzo Angiolini (option

This top is a bit trapeze shaped, which makes it difficult to partial tuck. I found that the offset knot worked better for this. I love pattern mixing, and leopard plus anything always equals something fun! And gosh, I love the warm weather and being able to wear all my fun shoes again. I think the last time you guys saw these shoes was in August. Geez! They'll come out sooner next time!

Leifsdottir

Sunnies: Marc by Marc Jacobs | Dress: Leifsdottir | Bracelet: Stella and Dot | Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (option, option)  | Shoes: Vince Camuto (limited sizes in black here, option)

I'm here to bring you another brand I love for dresses. Leifsdottir. Back in the day, you could shop Leifsdottir completely independent of Anthropologie, but you can't anymore. Which is dangerous because when I start browsing around the Anthro site, I just end up finding more things I like… I love Leifsdottir because of the bold prints, fresh cuts, and unique details. When I first bought this dress, I didn't realize it was a bird print. It's blatantly obvious to me now, but before I just saw it as a print that I loved! Even the buttons are darling!

Naturally, I had to add some cage sandals to complement the dress - you know how I love adding unexpected edge to feminine looks.  From the front, you simply see the grey suede strappies. But then from the back, you're pleasantly surprised when you see the heel color actually matches the dress. Yep, that was intentional, folks! Sometimes, I just kill me.

Before I go, remember this dress from last week?

Well, apparently it is a fan favorite because it is being featured in 3 different places this week! I'm beyond flattered, and it is very interesting to see which looks end up being your favorites. So please visit Terry's Two Cents, The Real Arnolds, and Stylin' in St. Louis/ Living in Color Style to check me out there, too. And look around while you're there!
