Thursday means almost Friday and Friday means almost weekend! Over the weekend there is no such thing as too much distressing when it comes to my denim. The more destroyed, the better. Add an easy tee and fun wedges and I am set. I got this tee shirt for next to nothing, but it was last summer and it was too small. I decided to try it on now and was pleasantly surprised. Seriously the best feeling ever. Something splendid indeed!

Buying lately
I don't feel like I have done one of these buying lately posts in quite some time, so I figured I should probably catch you guys up a little. These are things that I have bought but haven't officially worn on the blog yet. I do like to style things as soon as I receive them as a reminder to myself that I need to wear them. So when I'm in a "what do I wear" slump, I can just sift through my flat lays and it helps jog some ideas! Each of the outfits below features one recent purchase, so let's get started!

The best of summer
I know that technically it's not the end of summer, but it's September 1st. Kids are back in school and the start of school will always denote the "end" of summer for me! I don't do these recap posts enough, so I figured with the new month, and the implied new season, I would look back at some of my favorite warm weather looks. I definitely see a more casual trend in my favorites. I embraced the basic tee this season, and I loved anything and everything that looked hand crafted or embroidered.

I seriously feel like summer has just started. Though a teeny part of me is excited for fall. I was looking through old posts from last year, and I'm definitely missing some of my transitional pieces! Next week, I'll pull those archives and share some of my favorite fall looks from last year that are still relevant to this upcoming season! Stay tuned!

Hello Monday: Return of the flares
Sunnies: Ray Ban (shop Ray Ban mirrored aviators here) | Necklace: CS Gems (c/o) (Love this option! Use code CARYLEE15 for 15% off!) | Bag: Target (option, option) | Top: Mindy Mae's Market (exact here) | Bracelet: Mindy Mae's Market (exact here) | Jeans (40% off!): Express | Shoes: Kate Spade
I got a Delia's catalog in the mail this week and I was so super confused because they closed all their stores a few months ago. Apparently they are back - only selling online - but they are back, and I could not help but get just a weeeee bit excited. No, I'm not a teenager, but Express, American Eagle, and Delia's are the three stores I can buy my size in bottoms and know they will fit me. So yay for great fitting pants!
Delia's totally reminds me of the 90s and the 90s are certainly back with a bang. The overalls, the florals, yes, those are reminiscent of that decade for me, but slipping on this pair of flared leg jeans took me back to another time - like hearing your favorite song from years ago on the radio again!
I had been craving a pair of flares, but was avoiding them because I certainly don't miss the battle of the inseam. You know what I'm talking about - needing a different inseam for every shoe heel height in your closet! That's the biggest advantage to skinny jeans - not having to worry about that! I love my flares to hover right over the floor when I'm in shoes, and this "short" length from Express works perfectly with my 4" heels.
I don't think flares will start kicking my skinnies out of my collection, but for now I'm definitely loving this super soft, perfectly stretchy, non-muffin-top-giving pair!
Before I go - please pop over to Olivia's blog to read this post here. She polled some fellow blogging friends to bring you some of our favorite fashion advice, including a tidbit from yours truly!

Hello Monday: Track tee and sale alert
Mindy Mae's Market has slowly become my new favorite place to shop online. Their stuff is adorable and affordable, and their Instagram account is one of my favorites because of their real life outfit inspiration and not-overly-spammy content even though they're a shop! They're one of the only shops I actually follow on Instagram for this reason. As my collection of their pieces begins to grow, I thought I should give you a heads up about their current sale (Aug 1- Aug 5) so you could shop for yourself in case there are some things you've been stalking!
Yesterday all of their tees were on sale, so I was inspired to wear my new track tee. The stock photo doesn't do it justice at all. It's got a relaxed fit and a high-low hem. It was the perfect outfit to wear to brunch and then errands yesterday.
Sunnies: Oakley | Necklace: Target | Bag: Chanel | Top: Mindy Mae's Market | Bracelet: Nadri | Leggings: Vince Camuto (option) | Shoes: Nike (other colors here)
We took these photos on the way to brunch yesterday. The husband picked the location, and I get just a little too excited to take any photos that aren't right in front of our house! And then he was getting all into it - telling me where to stand and how to pose. Oh, it's the little things that count the most, right?
But back to this tee! I ended up ordering a medium, which seems to be my typical size with everything I have bought from them so far. It has a bit of a trapeze shape to it, so I may have been ok sizing down, but I don't think I am drowning in it as is. The length makes it perfect to wear with leggings, though I thought about knotting it and wearing it with a skirt also. Maybe next time! Perhaps I went a little literal with this outfit, pairing the top with with leggings and my new Nikes, but I was feeling lazy and needed something easy. Gina said that Rachelle described anyone wearing these shoes as looking like an off duty model, so now it's all I think about when I slip them on! Haha
TOP ROW: Hoodie (seen here) | Gingham top (seen here) | Track tee
MIDDLE ROW: Heart tee | Cinch waist dress (seen here) | Floral sleeve dress
BOTTOM ROW: Gingham top (seen here) | Heart tee | Baseball tee (seen here)
If the track tee isn't your thing, there are plenty of other things that I can hopefully tempt you with! It brings me joy when people buy things that I love and actually love them also! Today, the sale is all about dresses, and I'm pretty sure you all NEED this floral sleeved striped dress.

After I posted a flat lay of this dress on Instagram last week, I received a few requests for try-on photos. I took it one step further and actually styled the dress for other seasons, documenting each look with a selfie. Any kind of striped dress is a staple. And when you can layer over it AND under it, it then becomes invaluable. This one with the adorable floral sleeves makes it a little more special!
Whew! Lots of information in this post - sorry, I really didn't mean for it to be this long and the husband is mad dogging me to go get dinner, so I should go! If you missed the announcement on Thursday, Jenna and I have decided to make her a permanent linkup host! She is discontinuing her Thursday linkup so she can be a permanent host for Hello Monday. Yay! Thanks for convincing us that we needed to team up by making our first week such a success!

Hello Monday!
Hello Monday! When I get my hair cut, *I* can tell I've gotten 3" cut off, but it still generally looks the same to everyone else! That's how I feel about the new linkup! Outside of the cute little button, things aren't extraordinarily different around here. I wanted to pick a name for the linkup that was simple but still broad enough to capture any and all topics that you all choose to link up! I'm excited (and thankful) to have Jenna as my co-host! Please be sure to visit her page and say hello!
Sunnies: Ray Ban (other colors here) | Earrings: Kate Spade | Necklace: Express (option) | Bag: Kate Spade (option) | Top: Express | Bracelet: Mindy Mae's Market (exact) | Jeans: Express | Shoes: Kate Spade (budget option)
I can't think of a better way to start fresh than by pairing neons with a classic white button up. These heels and this bag are head-turners on their own so they're basically a foolproof combination. Plus, I just got this new tassel bracelet and I really just wanted to wear it. :)
This weekend was pretty low key, which are the best in my opinion. We watched Trainwreck on Saturday at one of those dine-in movie theaters. It was definitely more of a chick flick than I initially thought it would be. I'm not complaining, and the husband didn't seem to mind either, but I feel like I cried a lot for a comedy! That's not saying much because I cry watching Disney movies…
This week is going to be another crazy one for me! I'm taking a day trip tomorrow for work to Sioux Falls, SD because, I mean, doesn't *every*one take day trips to South Dakota? It will be a long day, but at least I don't have to pack for it! #glasshalffull Have a great week!

Berry gingham
Sunnies: Ray Ban | Earrings: Express (option) | Necklace: Express (option) | Bag: Tory Burch (option, budget option) | Top: Mindy Mae's Market (option, option) | Bracelets: Cara, Stella and Dot, H&M | Bottoms: Express | Wedges: Valentino (option, option)
Last week, I shared a dress with you from one of my new favorite shops - Mindy Mae's Market. This top is another item in their Instagram feed that constantly has me tempted. They were having one of their flash sales, so I decided to finally take the plunge. It really is the perfect berry color, and I like that the gingham pattern is a little bit larger than you often see, yet not super big - it's just right. Leopard most definitely pairs perfectly with pink, so I decided to take it one step further and pattern mix with this gingham top.
I always love leaving you with extra ideas on how to style pieces, so here's a double header for you. Wearing this open over an easy tee with light denim and pink Chucks is a perfect weekend look. And I say this is a double header because I last showed you this pink tee here, so now you have two ways to style that also!
How do you like wearing your gingham?

The softest dress
Remember when I told you on Monday that I was super productive over the weekend, but that meant I was adversely productive with the blog? Well, being behind on the blog is certainly catching up with me. I've had something to do every night after work this week, so having to blog on top of all that has made me feel a bit crazy!
I literally started this post at 6pm but am exhausted and have been procrastinating ever since. For example, I browsed some Cardinals purses, I ordered these espadrilles, I've posted this and this on Instagram, and now it is almost 11pm and I really need to sleep!! So perhaps I should just get to the point and wrap up this post already!
Sunnies: Ray Ban | Necklace: Express | Bag: Kate Spade (option) | Dress: Mindy Mae's Market (brick and mortar option here and here) | Bracelet: Express | Watch: Kate Spade | Sandals: Sam Edelman (option)
Mindy Mae's Market is one of my favorite Instagram accounts to follow. Much like CS Gems, even though they are a shop, I don't feel like their feed is very advertise-y. When they posted this dress, I knew it had to be mine. Luckily, they have random flash sales, and I was able to snag it for $26 and some change. WAY WORTH IT.
My pic regrammed here
Their flat lays are some of my favorite in the business, and they always provide me with a lot of inspiration - for things to wear as well as things to buy. So, when they regrammed me here, you can imagine how flattered and excited I was! I will definitely be wearing the real life version of that flat lay in the future, but for the office, I decided to add some wedges and a pop of color with my bag.
The moral of the story is: you need this dress.
